A class action lawsuit has been filed against SEGA and Gearbox regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines. In a lawsuit obtained by Polygon, plaintiff Damion Perrine claims “that Gearbox and Sega falsely advertised Aliens by showing demos at trade shows like PAX and E3 which didn't end up being accurate representations of the final product.”

The demos were advertised as “actual gameplay” at the time, yet portrayed a level of “graphical fidelity, AI behavior and even entire levels not featured in the game.” The suit explains that by having reviews under an embargo that lifted the day of release, consumers did not have time to learn from critics about the difference in quality in the final product compared to early footage.

This is actually rather interesting. Should a Publisher/Developer who has shown all this Demo footage as what the final game will be be false advertising? Yes things change during development, but they did Media embargo's before the final game came out, of which no one could address all of the changes from what was shown previously.

Is that false advertisement?

At the same time there is more information available about games prior to their release than ever before. I mean you're almost guaranteed to be able to see someone play through the entire game live a week or so before the game is out. but dum poeple will dum

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the people who bought this game, but Gearbox clearly lied and they should be some consequence to that.

Yep, it's a dilemma. On one hand anybody who bought this game is a moron and deserves every single little thing that has happened to him, on the other if someone managed to nail a relatively big fish for fraud in marketing this turd it would be an glorious incline.

It was supposed to make it obvious that the Alien was intending to rape her. The more ambiguous scene they went with in the end was far superior, although the fact that Lambert's pants and shoes disappeared when Ripley found her body still made it obvious to those who payed attention.

The short scene with the Alien flailing its arms out as it walks toward Lambert is far more believable than the clumsy catwalk of the deleted scene, but it is still one of the moments where it becomes obvious that the Alien is a man in a suit.

well the original idea with the Aliens was far more sexual.

So, now that this game is down to $18 at Amazon, is it worth a purchase for someone who is a big fan of the movies?

New DLC comes, nobody cares. Strange, those millions (of sold copies) and no mention about it? What happen with people?
Joke aside - any comments about it? Structure is something like "drop some random plot to shootah spidey stuff" for 3h? What's the degree on the raep-lore meter?

Also - 18 dolans? Or you mean 1,8$? Then - maybe. Or just buy dorito and forget about this conversation.

Fuck no.

Even the original Doom is a much more advanced FPS than this shit. Rather buy that. At least you can have some retro fun then.

What do you mean "even?" In fact what the hell do you mean by "advanced?"

I mean that with all the technological advancements we've had in the 20 years since Doom's release, Aliens Colonial Marines isn't even on par with Doom. And that's not even talking about the quality of the game, that's just looking at it from a gameplay perspective.
