I miss Dota and DoW2, but I'm also a declined hard worker top performer and want to play in the couch with a gamepad before an early heart attack comes to take me.

Although it's probably not what you're looking for, I enjoyed GrimGrimoire as far as RT strategy games that you get to play with a gamepad are concerned.

I ended up playing Victor Vran. Not very tactical but meh, it'll do.

Maybe Sacrifice and some Steam Controller trick next?

Get a genesis emulator and play Dune. Or Herzog Zwei, which was basically the original RTS.
