    +10 Edgy Points

DX:HR's characters are a lot better than Bioware's, although they do probably also appeal to the Bioware crowd.

Did you read emails and listen to the news in the game? It may be considered a weakness of the game that you're not really getting the full experience if you don't take the time to soak up all that stuff.

  2. It has nothing to do with edgy. Actually it has everything to do with edgy. "I didn't ask for this?" A man without a choice thrust into a world that hates him and does not understand him and he has super-powers (Asperger's and Autism) ?

    Sounds like Biowhores to me.

Also sounds deeper than Commander Shepard, so my point stands

Oh, just shut up. :smug: We've already had a thread about the merits of DX:HR

  5. What merits are you talking about?

Piss filters? Corridor popamole combat? Cinematic takedown? Rape of the DX lore? Her-derp deep&edgy story?

The only good thing about the game was probably the map design.

The locations were probably the biggest let-down. They all looked the same to me.

No Paris, no Hong Kong, no nadding. Also, fucking art direction man. The game was set prior DX1, yet it looked like some friggin' 22th century Sci-Fi opera, minus aliens.

That's an exaggeration. Only Upper Hengsha really felt too futuristic to exist in 2027.

It did look fancier than DX1, which took place mostly in slum-like locations.

But there's nothing "space opera" about this, don't be fooled by the fancy looking monitors and the monorail.

    Compare with Seattle from DX:IW

I prefered the run-down locations in DX1, thank you.

And now shut the fuck up.

Not that bothered by what I've seen so far. The Thief series was always set in a fantasy medieval setting and not a historically accurate one. Gunblade looks... impractical at the moment, but we already have water arrows, pagan magic, and mechanical eyes, so...

I am looking forward to The4f. Albeit tentatively.

The new images look astoundingly bad, but DX:HR was a pleasant surprise, compared to most present releases.

I guess in the end, there is so little to speculate on, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but if its third person, with acrobatic moves, and no robo-eye, I'm lost on what to do.

First Fallout, now this. Bad juju!

I look forward to the day when we can say a game is good without qualifications like this. Translated, DXHR is the chubby, average looking chick you fucked because you were drunk and the bar was closing.

Fair enough. I was about to say American chicks are ugly after French Canada, too, but being exposed to so many has slanted my memory.

Kind of on-topic: I tried out The Dark Mod the other day after finishing Thief: Deadly Shadows. It was really impressive, technically, but... something about the game was extremely finnicky and awkward to actually play. Maybe it was the feel of character movement, or the imprecise platforming, or the awkward physics, but... I don't know, it felt like even accomplishing what should be fairly basic tasks was kind of more difficult and slower than it needed to be. Dear Codex, am I popamole?

I have to say that I've never played The Derp Mod. What exactly are the benefits of it over the countless high-quality fan levels made for the originals?

I've always wanted competitive multiplayer in Thief. Multiple thieves or 2-4 player teams competing to steal the same one trophy (or the most trophies) in maps with AI guards and everything where all players can try to use the AI to their advantage against the others. Not focused on combat faggotry, just good old stealth with a competitive edge and maybe traps, but sword fights and bows would still be an option if it came to that.
