    Wow... that intro is amazing.

I'd forgotten how gay I've always thought Sarevok's armour and (especially) helmet were, though. Blah.

I do like the new journal though. The Collapse/Expand buttons are a welcome addition.

They obviously tried to recreate the style. But apparently they dont have 'oldschool CGI' artists on board lmao.

Someone who obviously thinks that fantasy games need even more gratuitous giant Irish fonts randomly mixed with more modern ones.

The new portraits are nice, but the new sounds are kinda dumb. Sound1 for Male6 literally tries to be scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

What's wrong with the BG1 engine? It's perfect for BG1. it forces you to work as a group and to focus on archery, which makes sense considering that you're supposed to be weak. with the BG2 engine some of the kits are gonna be way too powerful even at low levels

That intro is shit, it's bad enough that is has me yearning for the original shitty cgi opening.

What's the spawn system? Did they rebalance classes/kits? Level cap is untouched?

re: arena mode, aka the Black Pits: Arena mode was unimplemented code already existing in the engine. As a matter of fact, Asc64 of ToBEx fame unlock it for use a long time ago. Those of you brofisting Beamdog for it need to check yourself.

I'm not sure why modding was ever an issue with this. Let's not overinflate it; modding has been going at a snail's pace for the most part. SCS/II has been finished for years other than his intermittant addons which add perhaps 1% more interest. By far the most common mods (currently made) are NPCs, written by faggots or fat Twilight chicks, so no one outside of BSN should give a fuck.

Hopefully noone will decide to try pulling (or supressing) the vanilla versions of the important mods.

Though the shitstorm that would provoke would be a sight to see.

I don't really plan on getting this, but tbh if the fonts and the cheesy new intro cinematic are the biggest complaints then I have to respond with a resounding "Whatever". I'm more interested to get peoples' impressions of the new content.

If you ask me, the most interesting thing going on in Infinity Engine modding recently has been G3's renewed interest in Icewind Dale.

BTW, they released a new version of IWD UB and BG2 Tweaks recently

It seems the new BG2 Tweak Pack from Gibberlings3 is already compatible with this (it treats it as a BGT installation)

What a shitty half-assed job this is! All they had to do was make it work like a modern piece of software. Borderless Fullscreen Windowed mode, please. This is 2012. Also, if you're going to map zooming to the mouse wheel why not let us click and drag the map with the middle button? I mean, if I'm going to have to scroll with the arrow keys and have an awkward window ANYHOW, I may as well just be using BGT.

I would have felt ripped off if I had paid for this. I almost want to so I can go shout at them on their forum legitimately.

Why didn't they just stick to the original animation instead of this atrocity? Why?

If they really thought this was an improvement, it can't bode well for the rest.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they probably didn't have it in the budget to craft a state-of-the-art intro remake. I actually assumed they would just leave the old intro alone. The cartoonish style of the new intro feels a bit out of place, though. The art style doesn't really fit and I have no idea why they would cut lines from the guard. Anyway, what's done is done. Perhaps the rest of the game will have some merit. Regardless of the changes, it's still Baldur's Gate and that should be enough for most people.
