Ugh. This fucking area pretty much sums what my problem with BG1 was.

3 things to do on that map, all in the lower right area. Kivan, High Hedge, and the Gnoll that has the halfling's sword.

WELCOME TO THE WORST HIKING SIMULATOR EVER BRO. I think this was the game that made me think Boots of Haste are mandatory items (and often, I would use shadow/gatekeeper to give all my characters a pair or would be constantly casting haste).

    Totally agreed here.

They tried to make Jaheira look more sensuous in the sequel, while she really looked like some militant druid in the original.

In terms of space / time, BG1 never felt as monotonous or sparse as walking around in Morrowind. Not a big problem, though I prefer the BG2 style.

Anyway, what a surprise, EE is a mix of mediocre improvements and nonsensical devolvements for a princely sum.

Man, just fuck this to hell. BGT remains in my top 10 game experiences of all time. Fuck this abomination. Unless BG2 Enhanced incorporates a joint game like BGT (or like Might and Magic 4/5) BGT is going to remain the definitive Baldur's Gate experience to me. One huge combined game with expansions, continuity from BG1 to 2 (if NPCs die, they die; they also retain their exact stats from BG1 to 2) etc.

Just... no. Fuck this and fuck you Trent Oster.

A TOEE remake by them might end up the most buggy mess ever. Or it would break the maximum bugginess limit and become perfectly stable. Either would be great to see, so let's suggest that.

Also TOEEEE is an inherently funny acronym, both to type and to speak.

    Nope.

    Heh.
As far as I am concerned, BGEE did succeed in making people interested in BG series again, just other way developers thought it would - people just re-installed everything with mods and play that instead. Even I decided to try Sword Coast Stratagems for BG1.

Spoiler for 15 year old game ahead.

The transition is quite good IMHO; actually not only from an in-game point, but also from a technical point - after completing BG1, the game automatically boots up BG2, imports your old Character and starts right off. And like Stabwound mentioned, the other Characters are also kept how they were in your game of BG1. For example if you had Imoen in your party and never Dual Classed her, she won't be a Thief/Mage in BG2 but stay as you "made her" in BG1.

Storywise the setup follows the BG2 opening. You are being captured on your way to Amn.
With the Trilogy mod BG1 doesn't directly end after you defeat Sarevok. Instead, you return to the keep in order to inform Belt about your victory (he was that Council dude you gave Sarevok's Diary to and saved him last second before the Doppelgangers could kill him and the other Nobles).
When doing so, Belt tells you that things could get kind of hot in Baldur's Gate for you in the coming days, because the other surviving Nobles that witnessed your fight with Sarevok and his minions in the castle are suspecting the player to be a Bhaalspawn as well.
He reckons the best course of action is for you to get out of town for a couple weeks, while he will reason with the rest of the Nobles. Incidentally, you are also one of the few people left that can be trusted by the Council, which comes in handy because someone has to try and explain what really went down to Amn in order to prevent the war for which Sarevok sow the seeds.

Once you embark on your journey there is an in-game Cutscene where you and the party gets knocked out while on their way to meeting the - memory doesn't serve me well here... was it the messengers/guides/envoys? - well the people you were supposed to meet and have been told about by Belt.

Long story short Trilogy Transition: Dialogue with Belt - Party gets jumped and knocked out in in-game Cutscene - Fade to black. BG2 boots up, automatically imports your Character and starts you right off with the BG2 Intro, then the game starts immediately and you wake up from the fade to black in your little cage. Now playing BG2.

I usually played TuTu but I'm prob gonna do a BGT run now. Are all characters imported from BG1 into BG2, or just the ones that were already in BG2.

SwiftCrack The Trilogy mod is not enhanced enough for that *decline* ;-p
Trilogy Mod doesn't change which NPCs can be recruited in BG2. The old NPCs from BG1 that you meet in BG2 which couldn't be recruited before (like Quayle or Ajantis) still can't be recruited back into the BG2 party, even if you had them in your party while playing BG1.
I don't know this for sure but I'm guessing they won't even recognize that they were in your Party before (meaning no new dialogue lines or fancy stuff like that).

Vile lies. It's either a standard function of BGT or in BGT Tweaks if you really want that.

BGT is generally surperior to TuTu in both functionality and customizability.

You know, they really should have updated the ruleset. They should have used either 4e, or Next.

Now that I think of it, it would not have been hard to do quite frankly, especially not Next, because unlike 4e next doesn't have a lot of powers and abilities you need to code in animations and effects for.

Then this puppy would have sold really well.

To quote Nixon: Mistakes have been made.

Just read up on the Grunker accusation and found this Thread

So besides a bunch of fanmade NPCs you can also bring over the canon NPCs that normally wouldn't make an appearance in vanilla BG2 (besides Branwen and Xan in the tutorial of course, @ scrupulous Grunker :p) if I understand correctly.

By the way, it says that BGT combines BG, TotSC, and SoA. And not those three and ToB.

Now, many of us have a version of BG2 that is combined with ToB.

So when you play BGT, do you hit the level cap in SoA, or do you keep gaining more levels beyond the cap if you have that SoA-ToB version?

Probably don't fit in the story at all though, but good to know. Gotta love how they have Bub Snikt from DSotSC, who is basically Kivan without a whiny backstory and voice. When I last did a full PT of BG1/2, BGT was very much bugged and tutu was the superior option. I guess BGT is ahead now though.

It combines BG, TotSC, SoA and ToB. The engine you will use while playing BGT is the ToB-engine.

You yourself can determine when using BGT whether you hit the level-cap in SoA or whatever.

There are few aspects of this that aren't customizable, and those that aren't can be customized with BG2 Tweak Pack.

Not only is it ahead, there is zero reason to use TuTu in this day and age. It is a relic :)

Pathfinder man, not 4E or Next. Anyway, it would certainly be much, much harder to do than the patch-work mess they've done with this. Changing all creatures, spells, and rules of a game is an actual piece of work, compared to making some new flash videos and packaging a bunch of mods.

Man, I was such an active part of the Spellhold Studios community once upon a time. It feels totally alien to me now. I just posted this, my last attempt at making them see reason, over there:

Totemic Druid's animals are fixed, they do not have immunities and have very low hp. Die in a few seconds.
I'm sure Shifter is toned down too. Some kits like mage hunter probably suck big though. But everyone shouting about "omg weapons immune animals" have't seem to test them.

Thanks for the heads-up. I got the info from a friend of mine who played BG:EE yesterday. Fiery hellfire shall rain down upon him.
