Update coming before the end of the month. Any requests for what you wanna see?
I would love to see an extended bit of gameplay, ideally something not on the critical path and encompassing the transition from regular gameplay to combat and back out again. That will demonstrate a lot of the different UI elements and the game's flow.

And since you asked, please include images of the journal/log, character sheet, inventory etc (when applicable) :D

All of this, but please pick the least relevant part of the game, no spoilers allowed.

The combat is only in one part of the game - think of it more as a mini game than a full on game play element. We've done a lot to try and avoid the ludo narrative dissonance you get when you have a nice sympathetic character go on a murder spree - and come up with a fairly elegant solution..a way that ties your actions during this part of the game into the story and the characters. Im actually really interested in how people 'take' that part of the game when its seen in the full context of the game!

Pyke we are too! Is there some sort of Humanity / Empathy / Morality mechanic or tracking at play?

I hope the solution isn't a deus ex machina narrative device like "they're all androids so it doesn't count".

Uuuuuurgh I wish I could be more definitive! But...yes. There is. Very much so.

Sure. On the lower bar, from left to right:
Open/Close inventory (classic PnC inventory where you hold objects, combine them, and find out more info about them)
Open Personal Computer (here you do log reviews, conversation review, and use it to connect into other devices in the game)
Open Codex (Marks sketchbook. This acts as a codex with world information, as well as a place where clues to the puzzles are jotted down),
Zoom in and Out to min/max zoom
Call Buffalo - this is your transport in the game. When its available you can call it to come and pick you up and exit to the main game world.
Menu - exits to the game menu.

On the world map the CALL BUFFALO button is replaced with the BUFFALO CONSOLE - where you get a world overview and can navigate from a 'sat nav' point of view instead of the isometric 'in game' camera. This console also lets you see your vehicles upgrades and lets you interface with the Wardens - the gates that allow mass travel over vast distances.

MILESTONE REACHED
We’ve passed a great milestone - we wrapped up the vast majority of the 2D graphics in BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION! This means that all 85+ scenes, the conversational portraits, as well as the menu and item graphics are now complete.

It was an immense undertaking, but Nic and I are pleased to have done so on schedule. Focus can now be applied to the gameplay/puzzle hookup and cinematic implementation.

WHAT IS ON THE MENU TODAY?
We believe that the visual design of the menus should be indicative of the world, and the story themes that we want to invoke. The artistic style and interaction of each menu (and perhaps even the view the player has of them) belongs where it should in our storytelling in an attempt to immerse you in the world of BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION.

A technocratic religion has sprung up from the ashes of the old world.

A dusty African landscape has some familiar locations...

The ruins of the thriving BAAS civilization are now nothing more than a shell of twisted metal and vines.

Mark approaches the Penrose in the dead of night during a raging storm.

Navigate the world in your trusty (rusty) Buffalo transporter. There are multiple maps to explore and many places to visit.

HAVE YOU HEARD?
In case you missed the news, Mick Gordon - the finest video game composer to wield a keyboard and amp - has joined our motley crew. Mick has produced some incredible musical tapestries for the world of DESOLATION and we can’t wait for you to be transported there, audibly and visually.

"Mick Gordon is a composer and sound designer whose compositions aim to transcend the perceptual boundary between music and its context. Mick’s work considers the role of music as a translation of the world in which it exists rather than a simple accompaniment. Through creativity, interpretation and collaboration he develops a meaningful exchange between the visual world and music culminating in the authorship of a unified original work of art."
