    Antiriad
    Glider Rider
    Monty on the Run
    Nemesis the Warlock

I should add that I suffered a horribly from the 'Alan Sugar' syndrome back then which might explain some of the choices. Of more modern games I'd go with Descent 2.

Deus Ex, Megman 2, Fire Emblem 4 all come to mind, Mask of The Betrayer was also pretty good, as was Megaman 9.

Doom, Temple of Elemental Evil and Timesplitters 2 all deserve honorable mention.

    KOTOR 2.

Captures the SW essence perfectly so much that it could easily replace any of the John Williams scores in any SW movie. This goes beyond game music and we can talk about film-music quality here. Too bad it was wasted on such a mediocre and rushed game.

Icewind Dale and BG series had good scores too.

Victoria : An Empire Under The sun had a strirring collection of classical music, which fit the mood of the game perfectly.

Don't remember that  I couldn't remember which of the UUWs had a gorgeous soundtrack, so I decided not to be specific. Now you make me believe it was UUW 2 :)

Final Fantasy 8's Orchestrated Album thingy
Portal (and, similarly, the Moathouse theme from ToEE)
Unreal Tournament 3 (not really, but since I got my awesome sound system a month ago the retardedly bass-heavy songs are hilarious to listen to, and shake the whole apartment complex)
    PST
Heroes of Might and Magic 3 (almost all of the town musics are good, the main exception being Necropolis)

Silent Hill's main theme is awesome.

I think it took Nicolai 3 tries to get me to listen past the first 15 seconds, but it did eventually pay off.

Stumbling upon an action segment in HL2 and having that sweet fast-paced music begin playing, was awesome to say the least. Outnumbered, and outgunned, you had to fight your way out of those segments. I think there was one at the start, once you get the crowbar and make your way through the train yard.

Places like Ravenholm and those zombie-infested highway tunnels had good ambient music.

Arcanum had one of the best ever IMO.

Also, despite being a crappy MMO, Neocron had a really good techno/ambient soundtrack.

I've tried to like the Arcanum soundtrack, but it's just boring.

    1. Icewind Dale ("Easthaven in Peace" is a masterpiece, otherwise not very consistent)
    2. Might and Magic VI ("Sunlit Snow Journey", a very consistent soundtrack)
    3. Planescape: Torment (poor battle music, perfect dark ambient)
    4. Street Fighter II ("Guile's Theme")
    5. Baldur's Gate I and II (especially the intros, average battle music though)
    6. Gothic I ("New Camp Theme", no weak tracks)
    7. Heroes of Might and Magic III (again, very consistent)
    8. Ultima ("Stones" in particular)
    9. Fallout I and II ("Den", "Modoc" as separate tracks, the rest are very fitting for any slow-paced game)
    10. Age of Wonders I and II (quite melancholy)

A few honourable mentions: Fahreheit (Angelo Badalamenti's tracks), Anachronox (on Anachronox proper in particular), Contra I and II, Space Rangers II, Vampire: the Masquerade - Redemption ("Prague Hub"), Jazz Jackrabbit, Duck Tales 2 ("Bermuda"), Heroes of Might and Magic II and IV.

How does this thread exist without mentioning Splinter Cell Chaos Theory? Even if you don't like the game, get the soundtrack.. now.
