Little known fact: DU made General Discussion members only so the CIA wouldn't discover the TITS thread.

I really don't get what you guys mean. Lots of mainstream Hollywood movies have full frontal nudity, so this claim of "Puritanical Americans" is not only an exaggerated stereotype, but also an incorrect one.

What I wanted to say is that all the censoring of certain words in written media is stupid, like that retarded shit of censhoring the middle finger in some programs.

Same reason Germany doesn't allow depictions of swastikas or why Japan produces some of the filthiest porn ever, but mosiacs everything in it. There is no reason. It is just so.

Because they're filthy filthy words young man!
So if you comment a single vowel nobody will know what it means. Our essence will remain pure.

The same thing happens with the censorship in japanese porn or hentai.

    hypocrisy 4 da win

I saw a nipple the other day. Horrible creatures, I avoid them whenever I can.

USians really freak out if their kids are exposed to nudity-in-a-non-sexual-context. Quite a few of these same parents also don't care if their kids are exposed to gratuitous fictional violence.

Yeah, but it's depicted as "ooooh, nudity!" instead of something more natural. Hawt lovemaking scenes appear as a glimpse, as if the viewers are naughty kids hidden in the closet. Violence in the other hand is so banalized that sometimes I'm surprised when characters solve the conflict while totally avoiding combat.
