I tried Dead Space 1 for a bit and "pure horror" it definitely wasn't. More like Doom3 - relatively boring shooter with somewhat 'scary' atmosphere.

 

trying to metagame it for more points kind of added to the experience for me(sad as this is), a shame they shat up the plot in both games while not fixing what was wrong with the gameplay and some other dumb shit
