SA has gone back to bitching about us, this time for being negative about Eternity:

For the record I'm still really regretful I gave into peer pressure and made that shitty jewgoldz troll. The original one was great, if I say so myself, and the stupid beard was not only distasteful but tried way too hard and ruined a perfectly fine troll. Just wanted to get that off my chest cause I'm still a little pissed it's an official emoticon.

Something Awful forumites pride themselves how they "cause butthurt wherever they go" and yet, they are so easily butthurt themselves. Over nothing more than a cursory glance at a forum.
No, really. The reaction to Eternity has mostly been "YES OBSIDIAN DICKS HITTING LEGS AND ASS ITZ HEAVAN" and cautious optimism with merely few vocal haters, yet to the autistic goon who cannot into engrish language it seems as if kodex is trying to burn Obsidian on a stake.

Then again, why is this a surprise, considering we are dealing with retards who actually payed real money for a forum registration?

  13. Whenever I try to read SA I get this mental image:

    :patriot:

Really, their sense of humour and 'kwan gamer nerd "mentality" are too alien for me to like or even be interested in.

They do have some absolutely fantastic LPs, tho.

the fact the emoticon is distasteful just makes it better

I knew it would cause this kind of butthurt, that's why I supported its inclusion

it brings me great erotic pleasure to see these reactions

So does the Codex, despite its uglier side. Really, the two fora are more simiilar than either side would like to admit.

I always saw him (and technology in TES, or at least in Morrowind and Redguard) as more steampunk than SF. Never read Mieville, but if that's a recommendation then I definitely will. You can't go wrong when DraQ recomments SF

  20. I only said SA was overall too 'kwan for my taste.

This place has a decent balance of potatoheads and bacon lovers.

Stempunk or not, you still get a dude hooked to a neural interface, Karan Sjet style.

Enough to beat any faggot claming that SF in fantasy sucks into submission with Mace of Molag-Bal and then rape his many orifices.

Aaand we also have Wiz 7 & 8, although they are more of a "campy mix of SF and Fantasy done on purpose" variety than anything cohesive.

We also have Fantasy in Sci-Fi, which has Unreal, entire fucking SW*, Dune and so on.

It's fantasy, or rather "New Weird" as they call it.

    I'm talking of China Miéville's Bas-Lag cycle.
It has steampunk, technomagic, lots of weird shit and rather dystopian setting.

Thoroughly recommended even though the author is so much of a raging leftists that he can make another raging leftist's eyes water sometimes.

Oh, and he sucks at making races.
Still better than fucking elves, I suppose.

    *) Someone will definitely mad.

I can recommend Mieville, too. Start with Perdido Street Station, then read The Scar. They're fucking awesome weird fantasy with some steampunk elements. Iron Council, the third book in his Bas-Lag series, isn't bad but it's so incredibly raging leftist that at some points, it reads like communist propaganda. But at least the commies turn out to be bad guys too in the end (what's awesome about Mieville's works is that there's never any good guys, nor any real bad guys; just different factions and people with different motivations, and in the end, everyone's a self-serving bastard in some way or another).

Iron Council was just communist propaganda. I honestly can't recommend it to anyone, and I'm as red as a baboon's arse. Perdido Street Station, The Scar and Embassytown are brilliant books, though.
