In Act 3, Radovid cuts out Phillipa Eilhart's eyes as punishment for... well, just read this, particularly the section on the Lodge of Sorceresses. In a nutshell, she orchestrated the assassination of King Demavend and only a handful of people - Radovid not among them - know that it was Nilfgaard, not the Lodge of Sorceresses (which she led), who ordered the assassinations of Foltest and Henselt. Additionally, she undermined Radovid's authority while serving as his adviser and he suspects that she was involved in the death of his father.

Edit: Oh, and she's a lesbian, too, hence Roguey's use of the above as an example that would be equivalent to Dethmold's treatment.

 

Well, Derthmold boyfriend was spared, so maybe its just a unfortunate coincidence

Can't be arsed to search for an actual discussion about it, but just search the Bioware forums on Witcher 2 discussions, or the borderhouse blog, or any other "gaming" forum/blog that values "inclusivity" and positive portrayal of minorities over pretty much everything else both gameplay and story related.

The funny thing is that this scene just adds to the despicable character of Dethmold. Who the fuck even cares if it's homophobic or not as long as it fits the overall story/character/setting/atmosphere. In fantasy literature you get shit like this all the time and nobody complains. Probably because the vocal "inclusionist" faggots cannot into reading.

Dethmold is the only gay man in the two games and it hasn't really been mentioned elsewhere that I remember. The dwarves in Vergen fell over themselves over Eilhart's "lesbomancy" but that's a typical double standard.

Witcher 2 doesn't take place during the "middle ages" and he's the only character who receives this kind of genital mutilation. It seems unlikely to me that it's only a coincidence that the only gay male character of the two games is an ugly creep who gets his genitals mutilated before he's killed (but the lesbians are totally hot of course).

In the Witcher World, wizards are able to slowly regenerate minor organs, or substitute lacking things, like eyes (book Yennefer) or titz (book Triss), with artifacts and illusionary spells.

As for the realistic chance of high profile studio owned by EA leasing one of their prolific writer to do a joint work with a Kickstarter project? Nah. No way.

But you can bet Eternity KS would get a massive million if one of Bio writers are ever dangled as stretch goal.
