    It's 3/10 max, sorry.

BG wasn't turn based in any sense. The movement was RT and individual characters' actions were timed asynchronously. Yes, the actions themselves had discrete lengths, so as long as you stood still and performed one action after another with a single character it wasn't all that different from TB, but it's like saying that Morrowind was turn based because casting a spell took 3s.

FFS, I said it was "technically turn-based" as in: "simulates PnP combat in real time", not that its actually turn-based. Unless you want to tell me that PnP D&D has real-time combat.

No, but it is "technically real-time" because it "simulates real combat in PnP".

Well, that subgenre of "games" could have received a Darwin Award, to be sure.

That's what they get for releasing it on plebeian consoles and not the gaming masterrace, amirite?

It's actually quite amusing, kind of like having an art performance put on instead of a football game, just because more people fit into a stadium than into a museum. Artists indeed.

This. It wasn't fucking innovative when people were packing early CDs full of FMV's and it isn't innovative now.

Unquestionably, but their choice of audience for a "mature story", quality notwithstanding, is hilarious.

Yeah that's the real insult. If you're going to basically make am movie instead of a game it should at least be a good movie. They never are.

Actual good, innovative games have almost always sold less than the same-old BSB crap. Cage's "games" just aren't a part of the former category.

Making your games more and more like movies is neither innovation, nor risk taking if you ask me. The "cinematic experience" is the least risky approach you can take nowadays, it's funny how the irony of the whole thing is just lost on Cage.

I don't buy his games because their stories, even by video game standards, are fucking terrible. Beyond: Two Souls in particular is a fucking train-wreck of mish-mashed ideas and one of the most misguided attempts at non-linear storytelling I have ever seen.

And it's funny because they're all terrible in different ways: Fahrenheit was a fairly tense and atmospheric thriller that just goes batshit insane around halfway through; Heavy Rain's plot only really works if you assume that literally every single person involved with the story is mind-numbingly stupid; and Beyond: Two Souls is just a fucking completely disjointed mess.

At best, I'd say Cage's games try to be innovative and consistently fail at it.
