I blame Steam, they opened the floodgates and let every mobile garbage in their store to make more bucks and now you have scammers that have gotten through.

Funny thing is, when I've been sick is pretty much the only time I actually do regular work on project shit like the Witcher modesty mod. Sick people have more time to sit around with nothing better to do than some dumb shit on the computer.

Don't get why these people can't just say "I had other stuff I wanted to do more", especially when they're not getting paid.

Get a load of the privilege on this guy.

    Or

Get a load of the beta on this guy.

MotB romance seems like it would be something he'd like. The male PC + Safiya one anyway, female PC gets Gann from what I've heard, don't really know how it goes.

John Walker believes "gameplay" should be banned from video game discussions: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/08/05/your-banned-list-of-gaming-words/

Makes sense. Who cares about mechanics and systems and how those all come together when actually playing the game, which is what is usually meant by "gameplay," anyway.

Pretty symptomatic, coming from Walker especially.

RPS love it's walking simulators, so it's no surprise that they don't care about gameplay

Especially Walker (since both Richard Cobbett and Adam Smith do care, to various degrees). I honestly feel like he's at least 50% of the reason(s) why RPS is terrible.

Eh, I can see what he's trying to say, but he's being willfully obtuse. Yes, some people are too dumb to use the word properly and just say "gameplay gameplay", but for good critics, it's just the header for a deeper analysis. You have to call it something, right?

Overall from looking at that post he just seems burnt out.

I am not very familiar with the personalities from RPS, but the only column I usualy read is the wargaming one(the one with the foxers), maybe one of the guys you mentioned writes it?

I think the Wargaming guy is neither Cobbett nor Smith. I'd have to check.

Just like Jasede above, he can't separate the word from its technical sense, which he also completely fails to grasp.

Yes, the word is obviously stupid. But it has acquired a fairly well-defined technical sense (which I very crudely and provisionally defined as "mechanics and systems and how those all come together when actually playing the game" above). John Walker can't differentiate between the two -- and can't even seem to grasp the latter in principle. Which is what makes his post so symptomatic, and not merely the fact he dislikes the word itself.

then you are an idiot. what the guy doesnt see is that in any of the mediums he talks about there is a word equivalent to whats meant by gameplay, it would be style or technique in books, and cinematography in movies (the systems on which the medium was built as bee puts it), at least thats how I understand it.

So no "this is a good movie" is not what you would describe with movie watch or cinematography, the same as this is a good game (but has shitty graphics as in his example) is not what you would conclude only from good gameplay. Because describing something only as good is describing your feelings towards it, something which is more or less irrelevant for a good critic.
