so hows the kidney transplant? can we see your kidneychimera now Blackthorne

I haven't got a kidney transplant yet.

If you'll look a few posts back, I believe I explained what's going on. Again, in a TL;DR kinda way - I have a disease called MPGN (Mebranoproliferative Glomularnephritis) that killed my original kidneys and its return was the cause of the demise of my last kidney transplant. My wife is a match for me, but due to her possibly devloping complications from kidney stones/oxylate levels and the 80% possibility of the return of my disease again someday, the transplant department and I decided not to allow her to donate to me. (They want to ensure that our children have at least one healthy and living parent.) I am on the transplant list now, waiting for a cadavar kidney to come in and be matched to me. I can also have a live donor, but they have to be informed of the possibility of the return of MPGN again and that the kidney may not last as long as we hoped. (I had seven years with my last one.) I have a couple people testing now; I'm hoping it works out and they go through with it. For now, I remain on dialysis - three times a week, four hours a treatment. You sit in a chair, immobile, for four hours while your blood is removed and cleaned in a machine. Waste products and excess water are removed in the process. Some days, it wrecks me. And I have to drive to a center about 30 minutes from my house. So it eats up my day on dialysis days.

It's not going great, but I'm alive. Stable for now. I do hope we can find me a match quickly, though. The longer you are on dialysis, the more drained and dead you feel.

Make the Codex Great Again!
We never got around getting a badge for this one, did we?
I don't think there were any ideas for it.

is the best I could come up with. If there are any ideas, throw'em my way, will see if it can be squeezed into 40x16.

Hey guys, I just got notifications about this again. Again, I want to say thank you - I had a LOT of bills last year, and though I still have a ton, your donations really helped me and literally saved me and my family.

I'm still on dialysis, and will be for the foreseable future. I was on dialysis five years the last time I was on the transplant list. It got real tough towards the end, I didn't think I was gonna make it then. I'm feeling pretty strong these days, though. I have good days and bad days. But I'm alive and I've been working on our games when I can. I wish I had enough time, money AND health to do everything I want, but hey, life's a bitch. Anyway, again, I want to extend my thanks to you all for helping me.

Hey there. I'm out. I had some kind of GI bleed; I needed five units of blood. A lot of blood transfusions, plus an endoscopy and a colonoscopy. That's right, your man here had cameras shoved down his throat and ass, so it's like I've been kidnapped by aliens. Anyway, they didn't find the source of the bleed, of course, but it's stopped, I'm on Protonix and later I get an outpatient procedure where I swallow a pill with a camera in it. The 21st century kills me. Anyway, nature tried to take me down once again, but I came out alive so, hey, I got that going for me. That and another $1000 ambulance bill. Which is outrageous; I've paid $27 for an Uber that's a big as an ambulance.

Im still amazed that in the states you have to pay for your ambulance ride. South Africa is a like the sixth circle of hell, but ambulance rides are free. We even have a community medic program here where volunteer doctors and medics ride around to help people for free.

Technically you don't have to pay for it. :smug:

It's funny; some of it is covered by insurance, but I always seem to get hit by fees that they don't cover. Yeah, it sucks ass and it should be investigated but I make games only, I'm not a lawyer too like Yohalem!!!!

Ambulance still free in Russia. Found a drunk 8 year old boy in the mud some time ago, called him an ambulance. If that was in the US, I wouldn't want to foreclose his house or anything, so I wouldn't call anything.

Tell me how "socialism is bad".

In some bleak dystopian future, patients can alievate their health costs by signing to agree that treatments such as getting a camera put into their rectums will be live streamed on the internet to a paying audience. You just know its gonna happen, eventually. Fuck, for all I know, its probably a common service on the dark web or something.

I only won an argument with health insurance once, when, while on the verge of my appendix exploding, and under opium, the hospital (in network) told me that I had to pick between two surgeons (they had my insurance card) without telling me which was in-network and which wasn't. I mumbled something under my breath (possibly "just cut me already"), and anyway, they cut out my appendix and hit me with a $10k bill because the surgeon was out-of-network. Eventually I negotiated some reduced price from the surgeon ($1k maybe?). Didn't even get to keep my appendix, which I had pleaded for, wanting to bring it into work and pretend it was the leader of the Martian resistance who had been in my stomach the whole time.

Let me give you one retarded advice.

Borrow some money from whatever place. Go to Cuba, South America, Eastern Europe or South Asia. With $10.000 you can have almost any operation or treatment you want.

In poor countries you can get good healthcare if you have some money but in US it looks like they will save you just to ruin the rest of your life.

Just try it. You get almost the same shit for less money. And you don't get addicted on painkillers as in US.
