    <a href="http://www.ferrago.com/">Ferrago</a> shows no mercy at all in <A href="http://www.ferrago.com/story/2836">their review</a> of <A href="http://www.whiptailinteractive.com/games_bladeandsword.php">Blade and Sword</a>, smashing it down with a <b>39%</b> score and saying such nice things as:
    <br>
    <br>
    <blockquote>Take this game and pop back in time seven years and I would have maybe scored it about a 60%, maybe seventy if the night before had been one of those lucky ones that were more prevalent for me back then. As it is 2004, I'm going to be somewhat harsher. While Blade & Sword is not a complete disaster - it does load after all, (wait a minute...) - I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would waste months of their life coding such an archaic and insipid game. Maybe there's a free gram of coke in the retail version as I can think of no other way that anyone would consider handing over the 25 quid RRP. Avoid like Gina G, another relic from '96.</blockquote>

    And you guys thought I got nasty in my reviews!

    Gina G was fugly. Even if she wasn't, "Ooh aah... Just a little bit" was utter tripe.

    i liked diablo 1 a lot more than diablo 2, it was original, and at least for me i felt like i found useful loot much more often than in diablo2, diablo2 has so many idiotic useless magic item powers (and there is no script locking up useless low lvl magic from the random generator) adding to a lot of class specific crap that finding something usefull might take a year. diablo2 skill system also sucked because the lack of a good design, blizzard failed to ask themselves "why would i put a point into firebolt when i could put it into fireball ?" if the answer is "i would never do that" you really have a problem

    its the main reason why b&s sucks

    i dont see how being a cpu hog would make it a better game ...
    i guess he was expecting cool 3d graphics or something

    other than that the review is good :D

    This is something they addressed in the latest patch for Diablo 2. I haven't tried it, but I agree that replacement spells and skills are totally ass design. There's really no reason why Blizzard shouldn't have caught that in testing the game. Once the testers figured out that it's a waste of skill points to develop firebolt and stopped putting points in it ever again, they should have addressed it.

    i have tried it, with the exception of a few skills (like the amazon lighting spear skills and the valkirie that now gets a lot of hps from decoy) the sinergy bonus is geared to make "basic powers" more powerful as you put points into "advanced powers", the bonus to other advanced powers is minimal and the bonus to the basic powers is still not enough to consider using them (unless you want to spend 5 weeks killing diablo with firebolts)

    they also failed to fix the paladin's auras, jeez how freaking difficult is to think that auras should give small passive bonuses to the paladin ? that would make them USEFUL without screwing up the balance in big groups (which is the reason the auras blow when you are playing single player), and locking your right button with an aura is just ... "#$#"@

    and they still havent added an autocasting option so you still need to recast the 10k protection spells from the sorceress every 2 minutes (do they really need an alien to tell them to just spend the mana again until i turn it off or run out ? jeez)

    i still use d2 for lan play but thats because i havent found a good alternative yet and my other boxes cant run 3d graphics that well (ill take suggestions)
