Bring back the Codex merchandise store

Greetings kind and decent residents of this prestigious website.

I would like to humbly request that the Codex begin selling merchandise again.

The merchandise shop with Cafe Press wasn't well thought out. Cafe Press's business model is (((oppressive))).

I would suggest using Zazzle or some other print to order shop.

Zazzle seems like a simple model. They have their set profit price for each item and you add onto that price the profit you want per sale. That total becomes the retail price.

Very simple.. Their_profit + Your_profit = Retail Price.

Your_Profit being customizable to whatever value you desire.

They handle production and shipping so life is simple.

Lets make Codex gear great again!

Which is exactly identical to CafePress' model. Only possibly without stealth deleting your shop when you aren't looking and whisking away all the earnings if you aren't making enough, but they might have adopted those CP "features" as well.

Not really, Cafe Press just gives you 5 - 10% as a set parameter of the sales price. (Unless they buy directly through your store then you get your percentage that you set)

It's a (((mystery))) why they would make a different sales commission based on which link was clicked on the website.

There are various comparison charts out there for the different print services, but it seems like Cafe Press snipes your private store sales and offers you the bare minimum commission when it can.

Zazzle and other sites just have one commission rate no matter what link a person buying clicks.

I don't know where you got that information from, but it's incorrect, at least for the type of store that we've had on CP. It worked exactly the same as Zazzle's model you listed.

There is no need to pretend zazzle and cafe press are the same.

There are other fulfillment services also, but I suppose they are "all the same" for the purpose of the current codex agenda.

Fucking hell, I get enough stress reading Codex on my phone at lunch hoping like fuck no-one looks over my shoulder and says "is that RPG Codex?" I've got my "they've got some good reviews sometimes" bullshit all ready, couldn't face the cringe of talking to a fellow 'dexer at work. We'd feel compelled to talk about Codex stuff like Grimoire, Jarlfranks foot fetish and Master Planetars adventures in house sharing. My toes are curling just thinking about it!

I could totally get on board with the idea of the Codex suing Obsidian. In fact I don't believe anything could possibly be more Codexian - we should even have a fundraiser. But if DU tried to sue Microsoft it might be tempting fate. All members would have to switch to Linux or Mac for one.
