Broken: A Praedor Roleplaying Game - action-RPG based on Finnish tabletop setting

Praedor is kind of a big deal in the Finnish tabletop RPG scene. It's a swords and sorcery thing set in a post-apoc world built on the ruins of an ancient technologically advanced civilisation. Now they want to turn it into a cRPG.

I haven't played Praedor myself but I've heard good things about it. From what I understand it's kind of what you'd expect from a Finnish fantasy RPG setting, sort of like D&D, only more metal. I would expect it to have a certain appeal in these parts.

Well... since there will be no more Dark Souls, the "throne" will become ripe for the taking. If they do go in this direction, and actually manage to pull it off, why not.

Of course, it is way more likely this will just be yet another 3rd person action title with minimal RPG and "meh" gameplay.

They did not do themselves a favor with this minimalistic, absolutely "?????" kind of announcement.

The setting is decent enough, and would make for an O.K. RPG. But decline is the only constant in our life, so it will be sheeeeeeeat.

 

I was hoping for a bit more meat on that video.

 

My ideal modern RPG basically boils down to "Dark Souls, but as an open-world RPG with dialog and choice".

The Praedor comics are incline and I go each year to the Helsinki comic festival to get the latest release by Petri Hiltunen (comic artist and co-creator or Praedor) to sign his work for me. To say that I'm excited about this is a mere understatement.

 

Keep your expectations realistic bros, Rat Crew Studios was registered in March this year so it's bound to be a pretty small outfit. They are using Unreal 4 engine and want to make it a third-person aRPG, but if you're hoping for Dark Souls level refinement and production values, you will be disappointed.

If we're lucky, this could turn out to be another ELEX though.

What does Praedor mean? Why not Perkele?

 

It means "to commit robbery, pillage, plunder".

 

I like the name. They'll have a neat comeback when people start raging that the game is completely broken.

 

Is there an english pdf (or book) to grab Praedor RPG? I'm curious is it any good.
