This was already known... in one of the early updates he shows character designs to his daughter and let her choose which one she likes most, saying that it would be a game for her - exactly what he pitched at kickstarter.

But really, what annoys me the most is how Schafer is underestimating his daughter... The girl is now 7 years old! Think about what you were playing when you were 7. I was playing DOOM and Mortal Kombat, and had already beaten half of LucasArts adventure games by that time. Yet Tim feels the need to make a casual game about fluffy toys, bad wolves and banal moral lessons that offers no challenge at all. Cause you know, kids are dumb.

I pointed this out relatively early on: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/inde...ter-adventure-game.69252/page-19#post-2571930 but at that point it was more of a joke or guess, now he's just outright come out and said it.

Well, as a backer who still didn't play Part 1 because, as uncommon as it's getting to be in the current era, I only play my games when they are finished, I am still looking at the final game with a fair bit of curiousity. The production value seems very good for the little price I paid, and I have given up on expecting a real hardcore point and click game. Wadjet Eye has fillen those shoes for me. I expect a nice piece of entertainment, a good enough story, and apparently, Act 2 does deliver at least in terms of gameplay length.

    Bring on the game.

Broken Age has been installed on my computer for a year. I thought I'd just wait for the update for the second act of the game instead of having to redownload the whole thing later on.

I liked Act 1 despite its flaws, and I'm eager to play Act 2, but for some reason I can't wait to uninstall this game from my hard drive.

Feb 9, 2015, the 3-year anniversary of this thread is approaching.
Maybe all the loyal Kickstarter backers defending Tim should give Tim and his company more money so Doublefine can finish Broken Age faster.

That Grim Fandango re-release seems to be pretty popular. I wonder if that will be profitable.

I got an update from Double Fine about Broken Age and my email client said that it might be a scam. If I only had known this when I was thinking whether to pledge or not.

I think part 2 was supposed to be released May of last year.

So that's after the initial delays.

I wouldn't even care if the game was actually good though, but alas.

Tim Schaefer fans are so gullible. They are the kind of people that you probably could sell the Golden Gate Bridge to.

They are probably the same people who are also willing to fund a $375,000 kickstarter for a 2d game when they could be supporting the adventure game genre by buying games like Resonance, the Blackwell Chronicels, Deponia, Gray Matter, and the Sherlock Holmes series.

The Resonance Kickstarter, when it started was asking for $150. And that's 10 times better than Broken Age.
    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/VinceTwelve/resonance-retro-styled-adventure-game-contest-e

Instead of supporting "indie" games, Kickstarter, has become a vehicle to ask for exorbitant amounts of money for "indie" games.
With a few exceptions, the games being funded on Kickstarter shouldn't even be considered indie games. If the budget is over $100,000, it probably ain't an indie game.

The reason no one was funding Schaefer from the established companies is because they know his track record is shit.

At this point, the Tim Schaefer fans aren't defending him for any logical reason.
At this point, they are defending him, because THEY don't want to look bad for funding this trainwreck.
This is for THEIR egos and their desire to say that they support "indie" games.

I noticed that the documentary for Broken Age has also stopped being updated. The last update was JULY of LAST YEAR.

And please stop defending Schaefer because he has "artistic" sensibilities and needs to be coddled to develop his dreams and visions.

    No, screw that.

You don't even know who he writes his name LOL. And you are an idiot newfag. We are gullible because we funded Broken Age instead of buying indie games? Guess what we buy the indie games, AND we funded Broken Age because it promised an oldschool game.
The dev making it already had a game, that's why he only asked so little. He is also a one man dev, not a studio, so he can ask for 150 bucks. He is not making ends meet with game development.

Who cares if they are not considered indie?

Stop emberassing yourself and leave the Codex. The last update was in January, October before it.

So they basically kickstarted Massive Chalice to finish Broken Age and then put Grim Fandango on Steam to finish funding Massive Chalice, right?

    Marvelous.

The real question is what happens then... no way Broken Age - Act 2 sales will be enough to fund another game. They'll do yet another kickstarter?
