Triangle Wizard is some freeware indie hack 'n slash thing and there's been an update:

Triangle Wizard is a hack 'n slash game developed by me, Wouter van den Wollenberg, in my spare time. It is freeware, which means anyone may download it, play it and even distribute it free of charge. When asked what the game is like I usually answer that it is a combination of NetHack and normal hack 'n slash games like Diablo.

A new version of Triangle Wizard has arrived! I've had a lot of people asking me to do a tutorial in order to learn the game and it has been done! This update features a full ingame tutorial as well as a starting guide in pdf format. In addition the underused spell Evaporate Walls has been given a huge boost. It can now also be used offensively.

    Patch R 3.01 Notes:

-Swirling Stars is now a circle one spell instead of level two.
-Auramancer now starts with Swirling Stars at proficiency level 3.
-Picking up a spell power up will now display the associated letter.
-Chant of Discord is now harder to obtain.
-Beautified GUI.
-Disfigured Shrine will now also grant you the selected spell in addition to the spell levels.
-Added ingame tutorial.
-Evaporate Wall now also releases meteorites.

You can watch the video of game-play which appears to mostly consist of glowing coloured balls flowing towards each other on the game's website.

No. But I can brave the horrible new design to the front page, or is something seriously wrong with Firefox? And the presence of ads from BestBuy and a Clint Eastwood-3d model boggles my mind.

    ...And FIRST...

Thanks very much for seeing fit to post my, surely, poorly written news item DarkUnderlord. It felt good to have some morsel to mention to the Codex after I've enjoyed reading many a discussion here over the past several months.

I find myself especially drawn to the high modding potential of the game, and that said potential will likely be increasing as per a forum posting the developer made about opening up spell modding and such. In theory as it now stands, one could accurately recreate the characters and foes from games like Baroque and anything else and incorporate it into the game either balanced or broken as one chooses. Or Diablo...doesn't seem to be any substantial limits outside of maybe characters issues but surely those can be wrangled.

I put in a fair number of games today, and while surely weird, the Vector and visual effects grow on ya. Sometimes takes a bit to get your bearings but from then on you just roll with it until you wind up dead same as most Roguelikes and such.

The hardest thing for me is that I've never used WASD movement before but pretty much have to learn now on account of the strafing, circle strafing, and so on.
