Shit, I want this. The feature list sounds incredible, there's going to be some flexibility on the strategic level at last. Sucks that it's about Market Garden, though. Couldn't they do something epic like Kursk or Bagration?

A very good idea to wait for the patch. Right now most campaigns and ops are broken because of a very timid strategic AI and some messed up victory values. Patch could take a couple of weeks and I'm going to wait with my review to give it a proper chance. Battles on a single map are fun though.

In the meantime I've been playing a lot of Cross of Iron and love it. Lots of campaigns with lots of very different maps, a small batalion which you keep all through those and which you can grow quite attached to and lots and lots of units and toys to play with. After COI I was always surprised at how limited the troop and armor selection was in the other CC's.

I bought this and I don't know why I was hoping it would be like Cross of Iron. It's just like "The Longest Day" which isn't bad... I was at least hoping for different sounds or something, but instead it's essentially Longest Day 1.5. Way over priced in my opinion. Should have been more like $20 instead of $40.

But it's still fun from the little I've played. I haven't gotten into campaigns too much yet.

Still like the Cross of Iron and previous way of buying units and the massive number of unit types even if it's not as realistic.

If we go for realism Cross of Iron was way more realistic in that you basically played a "fire" brigade that got to fight in a number of battles over the course of the war. The campaign map of the last few CC remakes abstracts the movements and fights of thousands of soldiers to a handfull of batalion skirmishes.

There are however some new toys to look forward to in this one. I for one enjoyed hearing the Dutch SS troops and seeing my first flakfiertling.

Looking forward to your review. I haven't bought this as I actually enjoy the CC2 mechanics for this campaign. And also like you, I prefer the system in CC3 (Cross of Iron these days).

My review now would be pretty damning since the game is basically broken because of a timid campaign AI and severe pathfinding problems in the tactical AI. I'll wait for the first patch to appear in about a week.

Trash, mah man, the pathfinding issue hasn't changed since January 1, 1996. What makes you think, it will change now?
