So will this be just a GTA with robots? The way the trailer is cut and narrated it's obviously trying to imitate GTA.
Also how the city is presented as a pretty much generic LA-like metropolis drowning a diarrhea of colours and warm sunlight.
I'm sure this kind of game would sell like a mad cunt, I'm disappointed though. Didn't like last GTA at all and I'm not a fan of this currently popular super colourful style.

It's been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and... went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things - you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves and go to work. We wanted to giveyou The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine, we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077's pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you've been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn't like anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too. :)

But, to the point. Today is the day. If you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and... well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for the previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions,

1. When?
When we told you we would only release the game when it's ready, we meant it. We're infinitely much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it's still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it's the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.

2. How big?
Seriously big, but..., to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we'll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.

3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM?
Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM-free on PC.

4. Microtransactions?
In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?

Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.

Yours,
CD PROJEKT RED Team.

I really don't know how to feel about this, looks too colourful for a cyberpunk game. Wondering how the gameplay will be, hopefully not GTA style...

Poles know dumb Americans too well. The trailer is pitched as GTAV. The default male MC looks like a certain Mass Effect protagonist.

This will sell like hotcakes.
Like hotcakes as in witcher 3/ME franchise style figures, but not GTAV style figures unless they chose to market more relatable character designs in their promotional adverts (char creation doesn't matter if they don't push footage). Notice how most GTA protagonists look rather average? It's made to appeal to the average joe who would feel disconnected with a protagonist that looks like some steroid freak mutant ala shepard and what they've shown of a male model in the cyberpunk trailer.

It's not just the power of brand name that makes GTA V sell 90 million copies. It's Rockstar's understanding of their own audience and how to reach the masses.

On the other hand, Mike Pondsmith is on record saying that he doesn't consider Deus Ex to be real cyberpunk, and that real cyberpunk is about being a punk on the streets - like GTA with tech.
Well, that's true.
The difference between cyberpunk and post-cyberpunk is that protagonists are usually integrated into the system like JC (who's working on the "government") or Jensen, while in, let's say, Shadowrun games protagonists are sinless (basically, bums).

looks too colourful for a cyberpunk game

want to dig up the quote where the devs told years ago that they want to make a colorful vibrant world and not some dystopian grey world filled with doom and gloom?

also the 80s was full of color, so in that line it fits

On the other side, it has Pondsmith's seal of approval, so they make a mishmash of the fuck they want

Wtf happened it looks like shit.
Why are they using Unreal 3?
I was convinced its a BioWare trash Andromeda.
Oh, well no point in spending all that $$$ for GTX 1180 or whatever...
