I've been struggling to understand the "LOL PATCH FOR MONEY" crowd's thought processes for a while, and the only explanation for their beliefs I can think of is that they believe that, if you want to release an overhaul of your game, you shoud make the game freeware into the bargain

    That flash was pretty lame...

As a side-note I actually enjoyed TW much more than I enjoyed KOTOR2, VTM:Bloodlines, which was a pretty good game if buggy and unoptimized as hell.

The Witcher had fun combat, believable and well crafted world, provided a great deal of challenge that required from the player to use the alchemy skills and had excellent graphics/controls that didn't test your patience. Yes I wasn't able to play a female dual-wielding drow/tiefling Barbarian/Illusionist and I am very glad I didn't.

Bloodlines was not all that special aside from the superb voice acting and characters, to be honest. The beginning and middle of the game was great fun, but it fell flat on its face near the end. Combat sucked, as well.

TW storyline and C&C + Bloodlines voice acting and characters =

It's not free if you use the definition "written to a disk and delivered to your doorstep for no cost" of free, not just "publicly available on the net", like some DUmbfucks do.

Anyhow, now the official Witcher page starts up with that flash anim as well, no need to go through the clue-hunting.

What the fuck is with everyone complaining that the 'enhanced' patch is not free?

If you bought the game and you registered it, you download it for free. This is called support and it is some excellent support.

Do you want to talk about the NWN series update process? About the TOEE community patches? Or even better just list a single game that has been released in recent years and did not have a patch or update to follow. Do you whine about it? Do you constantly complain about having to patch your game or have you accepted it as the natural thing to do? I didn't think so... Well, shut the fuck up and stop picking on a single company that had the decency to actually work on a major update.

If you want it written on a disk and delivered to your door, then you have some serious issues and I suggest you check it out with some shrink...

Quests were designed well as well, also it had separate quests for each race. Plus non-combat skills. TW is mostly about hacking through boring enemies and TW's quests are mostly about hacking through boring enemies. There are no non-combat skills in TW at all.

More like TW storyline and C&C - pointless mmorpg quests + Bloodlines voice acting, characters + (at least) Bloodlines quest and char system design = and TW could've been there among giants. But now it just has to slam with the rest.

But what if they had the audacity to bundle those NWN patches with all future releases of the game? And yet they still charged for the game? That makes it paying for a patch.

I don't see how you got the password. Was that just random guessing or was there a clue there? I never seem to really get these web hunt games. It should be like a riddle or something not view-source crappola¹.

    Show Spoiler
... and I failed to find the Wolf on the page so I just viewed source and found an href I copy-pasted which turned out to be right.

Everyone got the same flash thing that showed a wolf's head that when you clicked on it, cracked a bit and re-directed you to thewitcher.com, right?

    ¹Said the web designer.

Yes. It's incidentally the first thing you see when accessing the home page, which I did when I erroneously interpreted the 'beginning' clue. Kinda disappointing really.
But I guess now we can all have fun trying to guess what that white spike on blue background is.

    not that it was unexpected
I just hope that whatever improvements they bring to the console version, they will later transfer to the PC version via a patch

Well, that sell-out didn't take long.

And I was foolish enough to have faith that they would remain a retro-PC bunch.

Oh, CDProjekt, we hardly knew ye.

Oh for fuck's sake, you have to know that's bullshit before you even write it. Unless you're a complete moron. Or DarkUnderlord in disguise.

"Hey, buy our game a third time!" :trollbait:

Seriously though, this sucks. How about actually developing something new for a change?

Oh wow, don't be disappointed now.
They explicitly said new project. Not game. See the difference?

    Me too.

A bit blah, I wouldn't mind them churning out simple console conversions, but so much improvements? :|
I do hope they develop their next games for PC first.

CDProjekt, the only truly major independent RPG maker, and who made one of the only really good major RPGs in a decade, just officially announced to the hardcore PC fanbase who facillitated their million sales, that they've sold out.

You know today I remembered that no RPG had any new world since Arcanum. Arcanum was the last damn rpg to have an original game world (and well thought out). It was 7 years ago.

Eschalon also has an "original" world, at least in the literal sense of the word.
