[ Interview ]

Strategy Informer had a talk with Alex Mantzaris of Firaxis about the changes planned for Beyond the Sword, the next expansion to Civilization IV.

Strategy Informer: We've been interested in the random events feature that will be included in Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword, could you tell us a bit more about this?

Alex Mantzaris: Random events are all about giving Civilization 4 even more historical flavor and immersion, and providing new ways to interact with the world. There are large numbers of events that don’t all occur in every game, so each game feels unique. Some events simply ask the player how to deal with a situation that has arisen, but other events are quite intricate, sending the player on quests in order to receive some reward, for example.

Alex also let them know that two demos are on the way.

Spotted @ Blues News

I wonder if it's like in Civ2 where the time it took for it to get to alpha centauri changed or is it just changing shiny logos/parts that don't affect it's parameters.

I already read that but it may turn out that by strategic planning and tactical decision making they mean having certain building required for certain space ship parts(like no SS life support unless a city has a hospital/red cross etc.). But if the bring back the good old Civ II spaceship customization it will rock.

Personally I think BTS looks a lot better than warlords.
