CKII is released.

It that time France already was a centralized state. In CK2 kid ruler would be hated by everyone and would have a crappy stats to effectively deal with his enemies, so better try to avoid such situation.

I wouldn't count on that solution, since I've seen reported causes, when it still updated the game and broke saves.

 

Obviously I wasn't going for efficiency. I played with a understatted lunatic king for 100 years after all.

You know, after you known the ins and outs of a game going for lulz is actually really fun.

Aside from his ugly mug, he's an okay liege. But one thing that annoys him is the failure of his vassal to pay taxes.
Mayors are easy to convince. But the Bishops proved to be a constant annoyance. If they liked the Pope more than one iota, they'll divert their cash to the Paypalcy.

'How do we fix this shit?' He wondered. It's unfair! He already minimized the levy! And even gave middling tax rates!
Well, since Lothangaria still works under Free Investiture, Steve can appoint the bishop's successor...



And ensure the next successor is compliant to him.
'But fuck, that will take years to wait till the inheritance come to pass!' Steve complained.

Well. Nobody said he can't accelerate the process...



One feast later and everyone is okay with stabbing Zack's ass with knives.



Even the consequences of being discovered is unimportant. He's just a bishop.
He cannot do anything. He can't just pray to God to strike you down. He cannot order an excommunication.
He's sitting duck. Nobody will ever liked him enough to counter plot against Steve!



And so... he dies.



And a more... friendlier Bishop takes his place.
This is especially important during peace times to squeeze out additional coin.
I'm currently stuck in ironman vassal of Italy. Unable to declare wars with fellow vassals due to Crown Laws - so I build my holdings. City after city and ensure that taxes are paid.

If I've understood correctly, you will first need to Reform, and then you'll just have to wait. Don't know if it has any "get ass kicked by this much" clauses to speed up/slow down the creation event. All pagan holy orders need Reform first tho.

 

Jomsvikings are TOG, not SOA, and need no reformation to fire. They have an event to reform themselves upon norse reformation.

 

Can you take female rulers you have imprisoned as concubines (playing norse)? If so, are there limitations beyond the 3 cap? I have a norse chieftess (my vassal) who rebelled against me as my prisoner and I want to punish award her properly.

Doing the whole rape dungeon thing to ladies with titles also gives extra prestige, probably by making all the other dudebros around you fistbump and say "you go dawg".

 

Yep. It's pretty much... unsatisfying to me.

 

At one point I had my granddaughter in the dungeon, and couldn't take her. And below 16 is not a choice, alas. Beyond that, the sky is the limit. As a norse republic, I repeatedly loot the lands hosting quick/genius chicks, rape concubinize them when they are captured, then offload them to family members as wives. By now, almost everyone has a trophy wife, and I'm talking over 20 adult male family members, burning through over 2k per year.

Not sure the rulers can be taken as concubines. Still have to catch an enemy one, but some countess of mine caught plotting had no option to be taken.

 

Hmm, I couldn't find the option to make this countess a concubine. Knowing CK2 it's not always apparent which diplomacy or intrigue tab or what have you you're supposed to do it from. When I'm in dip with her I can only take her courtiers as concubines, and there was no option in intrigue either. I don't think there was an option to take a concubine from my own courtiers but maybe that's where it is? She was adult, I didn't have 3 already. Where is buttan?

Event troops are nerfed so that rebels don't own everyone and the game is once again playable. Starting troops are still absurdly OP though. OPM Gilan starts with twice as many troops as the Fatmids can raise...

 

I still don't understand how the game is 'unplayable' - I know there were extreme cases like the Khazars having to resort to desperate measures just to survive their Old Gods start.
But I never ran into situation where I threw my hands up and call bullshit on a regular revolt stack.

Yeah, rebels spawning with 5x as many troops as the target can raise is totally intended.

The AI was completely unable to cope with the ridiculous event troop spam.

The other important fix is that the AI is a lot less suicidal about attacking stronger forces. Dunno how the heck they managed to screw up military AI like that in the last patch.

You can't make concubines of title holders. It is the ultimate way to deal with a rebellious countess though. Put her in the dungeon, strip her of titles and then strip her of clothes as well.

 

Will the Jewish retinue be bankers?
