Close Combat mods?

Anyone here know of any Close Combat mods? Specifically for the Matrix Games remakes?

Any mod that somehow increases the intelligence of the AI would be great, but I'm sure that's non-existent so just something that adds a new campaign or something would be great. I tried google but I get a bunch of sites that are under construction or require registration to even see screenshots.

Also, anyone know of any games that are similar to the CC games?

    Thanks!

The combat mission games are also quite good. Though they do have a different feel and look and the older installments are all TB. The last one is also pretty good and has both a TB and RT mode.

Don't really know about mods for the remades. There is a rather dedicated scene though and I recall that Wacht am Rhein had at least one real big improvement mod. You might want to try the matrix forums.

Try multiplayer. I've started a CC2 grand campaign against a friend using Hamachi and it's loads of fun. Much more than against the AI.

CC AI is non-functional. It can't even use basic tactics from the bootcamp.

Sean O'connor's Firefight is similar, does some things better and has a pretty decent AI.

There are excellent mods for CC5 (Stalingrad, Market Garden) and you find all that stuff here: http://www.closecombatseries.net/CCS/mo ... =Downloads

But I don't know of any mods that improve AI.

Let me add that the only thing that could get me back into the series would be a remake of CC2 Market Garden. I fail to see the point in the new campaign, which gives both sides beaucoup units, with the result that battles are always fought on equal numerical terms. In CC2 you often had to try to do the impossible: hold a full stack with practically nothing (one or two squads Reserve Schützen, Aufklärer and an MG42). As the Allies you were numerically stronger, but working against time, and a growing number of the damn german tanks. Since CC3 I just don't understand the gameplay anymore, nothing but pointless engagement after engagement, until one side is annhiliated. No wonder people burn out on this.

Frankly, CC3+ are just pointless milking of the franchise - they didn't fix the AI, they didn't fix the horrible pathfinding, they have failed to improve the tactical gameplay.

I wouldn't count on remakes - the guys that do the remakes are even worse than Atomic Games - they do a lot of errors in map coding, they make horrible errors in game data, are very slow to patch their games - they rush to make a next remake instead of patching their existing games, etc.

Some members of the team that works on the remakes actually flame people who report bugs and ask about patches.
They are hated within the CC community. Also, they are unpaid volunteers - Matrix Games doesn't invest cash in improving the games.
