What the fuck is a Cloudfare anyway? Sounds positively heretical, maybe I should call the Commissar.

Sometimes, when you spend too much time on the Codex, the server assumes that you are a hacker doing a Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) on the website i.e. burdening the site's servers so much with frequent re-entry that the site is barely able to function.

Such users come across a page labelled CloudFlare, which tells them they have to wait five seconds before entering the site, because the program is checking if they are some hacker's software trying to DDoS the website.

When you are told that you are spending so much time on the Codex that you seem like a DDoS hacking bot software trying to bring the website down, that is when you should take a hint and not post for the next 24 to 48 hours. Hence, FretRider and Humanity has risen!

What the fuck is this faggotry.
Never popped up before this week.
Also, KKKodex is almost always on my firefox restored session abs, so when I'm at the internetz I'm on the Codex.

Also, real Codexers should post the moment they want. Saying they are too much time here is heresy. Not posting is also heresy. Posting can also be heresy.

IIRC it comes up once and hour? And that's it. Though if we make our funding for the server it will go away as it won't be needed.

Seriously? Because sometimes it'll lead me to a cached version of the page I'm trying to view, which made me think it's just a way to let you keep reading a thread while the site is down (since by the time I was done reading the next page would load normally)

These Cloudfire people are dodgy shysters prone to injecting their own spamware into the stream and hijacking the site with their own landing page. I regularly get dodgy hijacking pages which ask me a bunch of nosy and intrusive questions no doubt to feed spammers with instead of the actual site.

On top of that, the alleged "caching" they provide is nonexistent: Rarely, if ever, is a cached version of anything available. Admittedly, a forum is probably not the best kind of site to be using with this, but frankly, I thinkt these guys are just plain dishonest and up to no good.

Yep, Cloudflare is not trustworthy at all. Also remember how they protected Lulzsec while they were committing illegal acts, and happily protect a lot of other unsavory sites.

    It's all just a scam.

No-one has the right to whinge about CloudFlare until they've lost an entire article to its "JUST CHECKING K" bullshit.

I think CloudFlare is great. If it keeps slant eyed hackers at bay and makes the site run better its worth it.
    I trust in DarkUnderlords wisdom.

Whenever I try to check the Codex from my phone it blocks me 70% of the time at the CloudFlare page, tells me to activate Java or something and to reload. Other times it loads fine; all without me changing a thing. It's very annoying to be stuck on a tram or stationary at traffic lights and to not have an update about what is happening in cRPGs of the early 1990s.

Yep. Every few hours I refresh to check on threads I may have had open in tabs and it makes me wait. It's not *that* big a deal, but I think the protection is over-sensitive... accessing a web site two or three times a day? You must be haxor!

That said the offline backup feature for the main site is cool.

Lazarus plugin for Firefox lets you recover forms when that happens.

Writing an entire article in a browser is retarded, but I can see spending 10-15 mins previewing an article and tweaking what the final result looks like.

The problem, at least for me, is that if I refresh more than one page at a time cloudflare will redirect all refreshing pages to the same page (last one I attempted refresh on). Is everyone else getting that?

If I knew we would 100% get rid of CloudFlare when we hit 5000$ then I'd donate.

Main problem with CloudFlare is tapatalk doesn't work any more. My phone is old and shitty, so browsing with the browser sucks.

Typically copy-paste from a text file then do the final edit in the browser to get the formatting right. And it's a pain in the ass when CloudFlare decides to do its bullshit and check right when you hit "submit" - and you realise you didn't copy-paste the final edit back into the text file because you had a basic acceptance that SHIT SHOULD WORK.
