Why did nobody mention Bro Elves? Are they so much worse than the other Elf teams?

    Short answer: Yes.

Slightly longer answer: Well, I guess they're pretty similar, but they have a bunch of bloat in the form of a bunch of not-that-good skills, and they have no key insane positionals, which basically leaves as an elf-team who is less good at doing what elf-teams do.

Good skills, but they make your initial positionals so fucking expensive to buy and don't always come in handy. Grunker lies in that it makes them the worst passing elf team - they simply lack the all-star that is the Wardancer when compared to woodies and the AV8 of the other elf teams.

^ I agree with UD entirely here, perhaps he misunderstood me. I meant worst elf-team, not worst elf-team at passing. Elves don't just pass. They also leap into cages and fuck them up, set up effective screens, and are one of the best teams at hunter-killing.

Short answer - Pro Elves aren't streamlined, efficient and mechanical enough for a true min-maxxing German like Grunker to value.

They have cheaper built-in redudancy measures in case shit hits the fan, but those redudancies won't matter if everyone goes according to your master plan. When you compare them in cold numbers to a one purpose team like woodies - the only true comparison - then the plucky pros are outclassed and outgunned, held back by their unique flair, individuality and creative style.

To value in a tier-sense. My personal favourite teams are those with funky progression and twisted play-styles with a mix of running/bashing - Necromantic, Skaven, Chaos Pact, Dark Elves, Chaos Dwarf, and Norse. As well as Chaos teams that aren't just CPOMB. I like the customization elements of BB more than I like playing an actual match, I think

I dislike Pro Elves from this perspective as well though, because they're just so damned unwieldly. Which is why I disagree here too:

I love positionals more than anything (hence my love of Necromantic). But Pro Elves just have shit thrown in for shits and giggles which doesn't always lead to unique playing styles that are coherent. That Grotty Little article I posted earlier says it well:

The only unwieldly parts of the team I can see are the 6347 Lineelfs (or are they MV7?). Otherwise - the positionals are geared towards slipping away from being man-marked, out of tackle zones and recieving that impossible long bomb pass when surrounded on 3 sides.

That brings into play so many of the interesting skills that don't see much play elsewhere - such as Fend and Leap - that I'm not seeing them as being more unwieldy that a Wood Elf team. You've got fewer outlets, but you're harder to pin down. I'm just not seeing it really.

Bringing your squishy star player into contact with three lumbering MB-players isn't a creative playing style, it's just stupid, and it won't last for very long ;)

In my experience, woodies play similarly but just don't have to take as many risks. Sure, pro elves have some out for these risks, but it doesn't make them play all that differently, really.

Into contact? Bro, you're an elf - make them have a choice between Blitzing any one of four of your players who can score. Unless your house-ruling it so you can Blitz more than once a turn
    :greatjob:

AG4, Block, Dodge and Side-Step is all the defense you need; and that's just a lvl 2 Blitzer! Their strength lay in taking risks, and the skills they recieve to being with have no benefit when playing conservative.

In other words, play exactly like woodies and high elves, except with a less coherent and focused set of skills. Where was the uniquely creative element again?

    Me and Arkay played.
    Show Spoiler
At start of the game RK rushed his entire team down the left side to go for a TD. I put too many of my guys in the middle, so it might actually have worked if not for some brave skinks who held the ground until the sauri could reinforce to blitz the ball carrier. It turned into a complete bashing game with me getting out with the ball after a few turns. Bashing keeps going, saurus gets to score.

Second half, I think RK sort of lost hope and started ignoring my ball carrier and just went for pure bash. There was however a flaw in his plan, for he could not outbash lizardmen. There were lots of fouls tho, especially from arkay. But the only permanent injury I received was a -1 MA on a 3spp skink. Could have gone a lot worse.

    Me and Humppa are done.

Humppa's team get beaten to a pulp as their Rat Ogre fingered itself in the backline. He ended the first half with 2 players left on the pitch, both stunned, 1 a Rat Ogre that had survived 3 big fouls. I crowdsurfed 6 rats, but only got a KO on 2, which let him start the 2nd half with a strong squad of 7, the other 4 chilling in the KO box.

2nd half, 1st turn - I try to crowdsurf his Gutter Runner. Fortunately, my Witch manages to roll 4 skulls on 6 dice to burn my re-roll, knock herself out, and open up a path to score for the Gutter Runner who'd just sent her to a happy land of ponies and blood sacrifice. I use my 2nd and final re-roll to manage another shot at 3D Block Blocking the rat to death and then held onto the ball throughout the rest of the game, scoring late on.

    FUCK Deso's Brazilian bullshit-net.

    Show Spoiler
Long story short: The first game's result of 1-1 with lots of permanent injuries was turned into a match with no perms (except for line-men) in which Grunker proved his ability to roll the largest fuckton of ones he's done in a long, long time. Deso played well and took advantage of my poor fortune, leading him to victory.
