I, desocupado, jaedar and roxor have been playing a lot of 2v2 DoW lately. We see that many other codexers play this on the rpgcodex steam group.

We have been trying to contact them, but due to the next-gen steam social networking we cannot send a message to people we aren't friends with, even if we are in the same group (the "send a message" button has been disabled, it's there for the lulz now).

Anyways. If you have DoW2, feel free to hang out at the hamachi channel CodexDoW, password KingComrade or add me ("villainstratus") or any of the others as friends on steam.

I'll play, but my experience with hamachi in the past has been negative so it's tentative until I know I can get it working.

I'll add you guys on steam but I've never use hamachi, why don't we use the steam chat again? I think it was brought up in the other thread but I'm just asking again because I'm familiar with that and we would already be playing over steam.

Problem is that the hamachi group is full. Right?

Yes, IIRC there's room for only 2 more people, and those slots are a necessary buffer in case somebody needs to create a different ID or something.

So we'll need to use Steam chat.

As many have mentioned, using steam would be optimal. But then we'd have to be friends, and I cannot bear the thought of being friends with any of you j/k, you need to add me or any of the others or post your steam account name.

    Yeah, it's pretty popamolean.

You don't have to be friends. Just join the Steam chat and when you want to play you can add each other there.

There's also group voice chat via the channel.

Is there a steam chat outside of the group chat and the friend-to-friend chat?

Yeah there's the RPGCodex steam group chat. Everybody just needs to be a part of that group.

Retribution has its own built-in chat, you can always create a RPG Codex channel there... just saying.

Good point. But I think that's a little bit more of a hassle because you'd have to boot up the game to chat.

Well... Yes, but then everyone has to join that group, something practically no one ever does.

The point here is to be able to grab someone when you see them playing, ask "do you want to play a team game nao?" and then hopefully get an answer.

Also, no one has added me as friend or even accepted my invite. I am dissapoint :rpgcodex:

Eh a lot of people are in the group, but if you're talking about the chat, yeah, it's not very popular at all.

Is there a way to increase the hamachi cap? I'd pay if it's just a few bucks.

Or maybe we should just organize games via IRC.

Alternatively, you could always join the steam group Codex DoW.

    Wrong.

And we have 3 of them.

But only True Patriots may enter (like you)

Now I'm curious as to who qualifies as a True Patriot...

    Update:

I've set up a tentative IRC channel so that there's no limit to who wants to be a permanent resident of said channel.

    Server: Irc.Gamesurge.Net
    Channel: #CodexDoW2

We're in a different hamachi group (purely for 40k I believe). CodexDoW.
