After playing beta and watching gameplay vids, have to agree with ol' TC. Game is a god damn retread with almost nothing new to add except bullshit unlock perks(yeah, that will be GREAT for competitive multiplayer), less information, same bad singleplayer, commander trees and grinding. Fuck that crap. CoH was downright brilliant for an RTS. This is as if Civilization 2 were released with the same graphics, same mechanics, everything except some extra bits and bobs and you have to grind out 20 games to play Shaka Zulu. Oh and they charge full price of course.

It's the same damn game except somehow worse, that's why it sucks ass.

Why is it shit? How is it overpriced? I didn't now Codex is now official internet shitpost central.

Nah, j/k, I do know that already.

edit: 2,5k people are playing CoH1. That means CoH2 is 7,2 times better than CoH1. Woops!

Going to demo it. If it's as good as the first one in the campaign I'll buy it. Loved the mp.

I'm not quite sure what people were expecting from the developer - they said all along they weren't going to be reinventing the wheel here and it's defintiely more of an evolution than a revolution, just as they said.

There are a few subtle changes that mix the gameply up a bit like the new capping/territory control system, the blizzard effects and some changes to how certain units operate (eg snipers). The Commander system is really a minor evolution of the first game's factional powers and the grinding Bulletin unlocks aren't too OP given you can only utilise three at a time.

I played some MP with my brother the other night and the game can still reproduce the tense joy of the original with just the right balance for me (requiring relatively quick thought but reasonably slow reaction times).

The original is a better game as of this point in time but I seem to remember it was a little rough around the edges on release too.

Been playing it. It's good old CoH all over again with a few twists. Biggest one so far is that your squads feel much more expandable. It's defenitely missing some of the charm and, dare I say, production values of the original though. Very much noticeable in the presentation. Otherwise I'm having a lot of fun with it, and some of the sp missions really are gems.

Plus seeing infantry run through heavy explosions unscathed is stoopid. Game can defenitely use some tweaking for mp.

I seem to simply suck at MP. I keep getting slaughtered, no matter what I do. Then again, MP RTS has never been my strong suit.

    As Soviet: 3xConscript + Molotov
As Ostheer: First Pio caps, 2nd pio builds T1, 1xMG + 3xGren, tech T2, get flamethrower halftrack and medic bunker, 2x Panzergrens, 1x Pak depending if enemy has armor on field, tech 3 if you have at least one fuel point and build PzIV

be aggressive, always look for opportunities to cap, don't stand in base, never have a unit idle, don't let your units die, kill enemy units if possible (i.e. doesn't get in the way of the previous rule)

I wasted $60. The game runs like shit on my computer. Everything is choppy, even on the lowest graphics settings, and the ground is constantly flickering in patches. My computer isn't exactly a beast and is almost three years old, but I have never encountered difficulty running any other game on the lowest settings. Specs: Core i7 870 2.93GHz, 8 GB RAM, Radeon 5970 (2GB) (video drivers up to date)

I searched around for some fix and haven't been able to find anything.

I was home alone yesterday during the day and finally got to play a bit with the speakers turned up - they really did a fantastic job on the sound mix. I can't say the graphics are looking dramatically better though despite the much higher system requirements.

That's because RTS MP is shit. It's like the opening moves in chess. Same opening moves 99/100. Usage of the same strategy over and over and over again on the same map. I can't think of a more boring thing to do with my time.
