Southend is a developer mostly known for Xbox projects, like the Xbox port of cel-shaded shooter XIII. Now they're dabbling in turn-based strategy games for the PC and Xbox 360 with Commanders: Attack, a cartoony sci-fi TBS. IGN has a preview:

One of the big advantages we had on our side was that each of the units can go up in rank to become much stronger. This makes keeping your own units alive is a pretty important piece of the victory. Thankfully there are different units that can be created to heal and repair other units. One very important unit on the field is the commander unit. These guys have special abilities and strong attacks and defenses. The main problem is that they're also very, very expensive to bring back out onto the battlefield so it's a risk vs. reward situation bringing them into the fray.

Read the rest of the preview and watch a few videos of the game in action. I'm not too excited by the developer's pedigree, but a new turn-based strategy game for the PC is always welcome.

Looks like something that would be more suited for PSP than XBox or PC.
