Seems that all the scripts relating to the database, like ignore list, statistics etc all return a fatal error, here an example:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_split() in /home/rpgcodex/public_html/system/includes/functions_system.php on line 86

This place was down earlier in the day due to a database error, according to the message displayed then. Maybe it's related.

Well, guess DU has vanished with the money, and is now living a happy life in Thailand with a lot of prostitutes of varying size, gender and age.

And he also took some lines of the server code with him, for whatever reason.

Just thought I'd chime in and say I've been getting the same error since about 9-10 hrs ago. I can access Tactictular Cancer's front page just fine, though.

Ah, crap. Once the forums were working I assumed everything else was as well so I didn't check the front page too. I'll get it sorted out. This was due to a PHP upgrade.

    --enable-mbstring bitches. --enable-mbregex for php 5.3+

    Or rewrite Rex's ancient hobbyist shit-code (?)

"bitches" is not part of the configuration string

Actually it's my ancient hobbyist shit code - and most of what's online now was written over the last few years. Rex doesn't code, he just does graphics.

And what are you saying is wrong with the multi-byte functions?

The support for it isn't in PHP 5.3.x by default apparently...

That's pretty much it. Du, if it's your ancient hobbyist code, it's less likely to be shit, then :D

So is that a good thing or a bad thing and I should use some other function? I use the mb_ stuff in a few places because of the issues we've had with so many damn foreigners and their funny characters.

    Suck up.

Well it was only bad in the sense that I had to rebuild PHP with support for it included. And will need to for any future versions from now on that we upgrade to. I don't know if there's an alternative that's in by default that you could use though. http://php.net/manual/en/mbstring.installation.php doesn't provide any info on it. I'm sure gromit will tell us all about it, though.

Not sucking up, just more willing to make baseless accusations and terrible assumptions about Rex.

I was actually being serious since I don't know if there's a usable alternative.
