Just finished Chapter 5 and it was intense. Best one so far. I was this close to dying about 3 times. Ran out of ammo too, and just before encountering one of those things attached to walls which spit out smaller necromorphs. I ended up throwing objects at it via kinesis and luckily found some ammo for the cutter on the floor. And the multiple encounters with the regenerating necromorph were awesome and almost deadly. I just love a game that makes you feel like you're barely holding on. Good survival game, reminds me a bit of Aliens.

    Just finished reviewing the game.

If I was any good at it and it wasn't in Romanian I'd link you guys a tl;dr spiked text wall of opinionated ego tripping that you could bash. Alas...

Anyway, long story short it was a nice experience for me, although it's a pastiche of copypasta from loads of other stuff, Bioshock to Aliens to Carpenter's The Thing. Best part was the combat system and gritty atmosphere. I know some elitist fgts think they've got it all figured out and it's not scary at all, but it made me 'eek' a couple of times and I actually enjoyed the tension of running and killing shit in my way before I ran out of oxygen. Besides, come on, it's got solid animations, pretty awesome voice acting (despite formulaic and gay dialogue at times) and overall it was worth the time spent.

This game is a pleasant surprise, so much more satisfied with this than Far Cry 2. Works perfect with a 360 pad, the hell with keyboard/mouse on this one. I find it kind've funny how you look like one of those searcher Necromongers from the Chronicles of Riddick (oh yeah I went there).

    I dare disagree.

the cranky controls make keyboardz and moosez a much nicer control set, as going smoothly through this game feels like having sex with a mannequin.

OMG this gaem is teh hardz. Playing on hard, I'm at level 8 now and I find myself lack medkit, ammo AND money. This game is really depressing in terms of atmosphere which is something Bioshack wanted to achieve but failed.

The mouse sensitivity really sucks though, fortunately my Logitech has a built-in hardware sensitivity changer or something like that, otherwise the game is almost unplayable with keyboard + mouse.

Well, you probably already know this, but you can kind of get the game to give you more ammo if you only carry 1-2 guns. Well, not more, but it focuses the ammo drops for the guns you really want to be using (say, plasma cutter and line cutter).

    Do the necromorphs respawn?

If I was sort of disturbed and uncomfortable throughout BioShock, would this game just rip the living daylights out of me?

    finished it.
fucking sweet game, gonna buy it in 3 days.

anyways, the controls seemed troublesome at first, but by chapter 5 i was rather used to them, and by chapter 10 so much that i didn't even notice they were there. only thing about the controls bugging me is targeting of containers or multiple items on the floor.
dunno why everyone whines about the mouse, had no problems with it after i got used to the game having mouse acceleration.

same goes for the point of view. pretty annoying at first, but got used to it after a while, and all of the hud stuff being integrated into the rig works pretty well, especially once you get used to the rig hud controls, and the third person view worked really nice to up the difficulty of

tentacles or end boss grabbing you while you struggle with the altered aim.

the only things that could use some improvement imo would be:
    - more hidden areas
    Show Spoiler
like the office behind the rack, which isn't exactly hidden, but still would have liked more areas like it.

    - more ambient logs, possibly about everyday life. the ones present are all directly related to the story, and there weren't many of them to begin with.
    - less handholding, like the absofuckinglutely redundant cut off their limbs stuff, the movement tutorial messages still present in new game+, or your "buddies" telling you how to solve problems before you even get to them.
    - better plot development.

letting your wife appear saying "make us whole again" after you find the log about said quote, then letting her appear on screens with a skull being randomly displayed in between, and all the rest kinda totally ruined the whole "omgshesdead" thing, as opposed to the clues about the omgshesagovernmentagent thing, which were still noticeable, but more subtle.

the story was ok, i guess.

at least both the government and cult involvement are logical, given the background of a genuine alien artifact being found several hundreds of years before the events, even though it seems kinda silly.

game gets bonus points for the singularity core looking like the flux capacitor and other goofy but subtle references as well.
some spawn new ones until you kill them, and areas you have to go through repeatedly might get repopulated (differently though), but it's never enough to be annoying, and you do spend quite some time running through empty corridors with weird sounds.

most of the time it's a room getting sealed off and you having to fight wave after wave, then everything getting back to normal, with an occasional single enemy thrown in until the next sealed room event. works quite good, better than bioshock's constant repopulation of all areas.

considering the reviewer said things like, look at all these cryptic messages! and then showed a screen of a wall that said cut off their limbs! and complained that he had to navigate through his inventory to use a health pack when there's quite obviously a health kit hot key... ill let you be the judge.

To tell the truth I didn't watch that review - I don't want to spoilt it for myself because "I'm not removing it from the inventory" as we speak.

My sentiments exactly. One of the best survival games. The regenerating mutant was a nice touch. Nothing like a monster you can only slow down, but not kill.
