    So let me see..

PC remake that runs straight through an exe that's completely ported to PC

    or

Having to download an ADF, download an Emulator, set it up so it works with WinUAE and of cause having the Kickstart roms... hmmm

There's always someone that prefers it a different way than someone else, I myself have both Gamebase, WinUAE, A REAL Amiga and FS-UAE. I can run it in loads of different ways, hell I even have the ADF AGA version to work on a REAL amiga 1200. If someone is remaking a great classic, good for them :)

yes but thats a lot of effort for nothing unless he really add new features. Setting up deuteros in winUA is a matter of a few minutes.Best is obviously the real amiga indeed.

True but there are some really thick and or lazy people out there that don't want to mess with WinUAE.

Anyhoo will see how this remake progresses, if it's anything like that PC remake of Millennium 2.2 that was bloody awesome

If they dont want to mess with winuAE , deuteros is too complex for them i think.

    Millennium <3

I'd assume the remake is for promoting some new project in a similar vein though?

There is also another point of view. Gambit and i (Bart Fernhout - B&K WORKS) are racing together to get our version working on the PC as a stand alone version. A vesion that is 1:1 from the original. Our main goal is not to beat each other in making the game. But to keep te game alive. And then special for the people who are indeed lazy to download WINUAE and instal it.

Then there are version who can be played.

Then when the original version is working we have gain a big knowleged of our progam tool. From that point it may be a big change that there will be version 2 with extra features.

Then the next level of deuteros looking for come out.
    Raapys did see this coming.

    BTW. My site is

    http://people.zeelandnet.nl/bfernhout/deuteros.html

Here comes every friday a new expanded version of the PC game Deuteros. Every friday there are new tings that are working Slowly the game is going to his end goal.

For me its when i reach the end and there are a lot of people downloading the game i wil give the source code also on the site for downloading. And for the people to make chaneges for a better game.

N.B. Sorry for my bad english i am a dutch guy and did neven pay a good attention on school for the english.

For the people who are instrested in a update of the game. There is a new version out. Build number 19. A lot of things are working now. And i ask the people to try to find bugs in the game.
One bug is already reported and that is that the cheat is not working good. That wil maybe corrected in the next release.
The site you can download is: http://people.zeelandnet.nl/bfernhout/deuteros.html

Do not be scared of the roling text and turned upside down op pictures. My program to make the site is acting up. Its a old version that is actualy for windows XP so its time for me te get the new version special for win7 and/or Win 8.1

    Happy bug hunting.

N.B. Everybody who find a real bug (Not a bug that is programed in or somthing that is just not working). So a real bug that act up doing something completly differend or so.
Then you name wil come in the game at the startup screen.

    bart.

i always wanted a remake of deuteros.
a remake, not a 1:1 copy :/ it didn't age very well, reunion already did better and bigger but reunion already evolved into imperium galactica, not the direction i'd have liked to see.

On a way i have to disapoint you. The remake i making is almost a 1:1 copy. With the difference that the soucecode is not C or C++. But Blitzbasic. (BTW From now on you can download it for free. www.Blitzbasic.com. make a account and download.) If you want to see what i already have done in the code to make the game look like this. I can upload de code to. And if you think you can make part of the program better be my geust. I like it if people will help. At the same time you wil learn something about programming. Some bugs who are in the original and are actualy a type of cheat, they wil stay in. But bugs what is making the program going bad of doing things you don't like. They wil go out.
Also some cheats adding for better use for going fasteer to the end. (Its not nice but it works)

When the program is finised, My goal is to upgrade it. Make the IA better give the player a option for easy, medium and hard. Some extra settings, And make the battle more interactive. A little bit like an turn based game.

For the people on this forum. I backtracking all the reply's on this subject and found out that there are a lot of people who never had an Amiga but an ATARI (STO i think) It was the counterpart op the amiga. The Atari people never had the Pleasure to play the deuteros as a cracked version. The game always break up at the moment the whole solar system was free of the methanoids. The discovery of the SGS engine did never worked there.

These people dislike Amiga Emulators as do we dislike the ATARI Emulators.

Now when the game is finished they can play the game to way to the end.

As long as my hart is not rejected i wil live. The last operation was rebuild my hard. So the second half is working to. Thats succeeded. And the new medicin looks like its working. I feel myself beter then before. And i working like hell to get the game ready. But the time i can do is every day a short time. The concentration is to mutch for me to make it more then 2 hour. But i feel every day better and better. So i hope i can make it up to 3 hours a day. Up til then i try to get the game ready.

Added a new piece of display. 10 timers added cause my machine is to fast. 6 Booleans to make some markers for creating and deleting shuttle plus shifting bay.

If i don't see any reaction here i wil stop reporting the newly build i post om my homepage.

    Hello all,

What would you say if I said I am working on a multiplayer Millennium 2.2? (Hopefully not heresy. :D)

Hopefully I haven't fallen for a trolling here, but do continue. As far as I remember, M2.2 was extremely story driven and it basically played the same way every time. It was an adventure wearing the clothes of a strategy game, maybe a bit like it's near contemporary, Portal. I have a hard time working out how you'd make a mp game out of it.

Also, part of the appeal of M2.2 was it's incredible atmosphere and sense of isolation - surely at odds with a multiplayer experience.

BTW, your pics didn't come out correctly.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm writing this message in a cozy log cabin I am spending my well earned winter vacation in. I'm facepalming here to realize that as I shut down my server before I left, the natural consequence was that the image links I posted above wont work until I get back to my home desk. :)

You're absolutely right in your keen observations on M2.2's original gameplay being somewhat ill suited to multiplayer gaming. I solved the game myself with a fuzzy A500 back in the days, and I think it still is probably the best game I have ever played. Aside from those two nice M2.2 remakes that came out for PC's much later (the latter of which I think was pretty nicely made), I also wanted to somehow contribute to this ageless genre so that it wouldn't die down.

Chronologically/thematically speaking, I'm branching original M2.2 storyline into a non-canon "alternate setting" that allows for more multiplayer oriented gameplay. I'm hoping to roll out something that plays a bit more like a blend of M2.2 and Overlord/Supremacy (another excellent game of the same era) and a typical Blacknova Traders/Browser based strategy game. I'm also adding in some role-playing elements by supporting different game character races (human, martian, etc.) and classes (leader, scientist, engineer, etc.).

There's still a lot of work to do, but I'm taking the approach of not stressing about it. That's probably the best way to approach hobby-based indie projects in order to make them reach playable beta, hopefully at some point during this year. ;)

Here's something I uploaded to Imageshack for starters. Hopefully they work better. :)

I have better memories of M2.2 than just about any other game I've ever played. Linear, but remarkable. I'll be following your progress with interest. I see you're using the original game's assets (I hope that includes the music!) - are you anticipating this being something Like Exult? A replacement executable for modern hardware?

I think a remake without fixing the obvious shortcomings of Millenium is a mistake... Shouldn't you instead "make it the way it should have been done"? Especially the tiresome parts, interface, etc. Also it would be nice if you managed to make the storyline somewhat randomized (replayability).

Anyway, nice to see someone is making a remake of that one.
