The only tiresome bit I remember was the constant Martian attacks, and admittedly that was extremely tiresome. The rest was fine and an entertaining game. As I said earlier it was a linear story-driven game and that was the best thing about it. Attempting to randomize things might destroy what made it memorable unless it was handled very well. What would be nice would be a modernized version with a mouse driven interface and the option to play the original game, warts and all, or an updated version. Keep the music and sound effects - they were perfect. The graphics too - they were just as perfect.

Now that you mentioned it - ha ha - I saw Orbital Lasers in particular as a must-to-have, not because of their effectiveness, but as way to skip the substandard fighter simulation part. :)

The rest of the game was awesome. I'm striving to keep as much original graphics and music/sfx in the play. Hopefully I'm also able to maintain the atmosphere of isolation that was unique for the game although you have to alter the gameplay to accommodate for multiple players. For example, a single player can't just "click the mouse" to make time pass. I'm still trying to iron out how to alter the mechanics of the original gameplay in the right way. :)
