ITZ BEGINNING IN AZNIA
China is a very divided country, with several semi-independent governors and warlords reigning over different areas. The muslim Ma Clique and the communist race traitors under Mao in Ya'an being the most dangerous.
The Kuomintang under Chiang Kai Shek controls central China and fields the largest army.
But it's divisions are understrength and, in many cases, made up of volunteer scratch companies armed with Qing-era weaponry.
The industry would have to be retooled to upgrade the equipment of these forces as well as produce artillery for the regular armed forces.
Artillery and engineer brigades would begin forming but not before the jews attempted to crash the shaky chinese national bank.
The armed forces would be split into 10 army corps, the biggest ones assuming their positions along the japanese border, while other detachments would defend the coast from possible IJN landings.
To further reinforce the army, 12 "Model" Divisions would be formed, consisting of 15000 men, several artillery detachments and reinforced by specially trained close combat troops armed with shotguns and flamethrowers for dealing wiith fortifications and close terrain. A sizeable engineer company would also enable these divisions to force river crossings much easier.
The re-equipping of the militia forces was soon completed as did many of the artillery pieces which were attached to division level as quickly as possible.
In the 4th of January 1937 however, strong Japanese forces attacked the Lugou Bridge in the Sino-Nip border. 100 soldiers from 3rd army, personally commanded by Chiang himself, were ordered to hold the bridge at all costs.
Despite being horribly outnumbered and outgunned, the attack was bloodily repulsed. Only 4 out of the 100 brave patriots survived. The Nips called off their next attack once reinforcements arrived and an uneasy truce
Until, 3 days later, the invasion began in full.
The japanese army was made up of more than 120 divisions, 3 times that of Chiang and well equipped. 80 of them were deployed across the Manchurian border, with the rest being mostly marine divisions that would attempt naval landings in the southern coast as soon as the IJN was able.
China also possessed no airforce to speak of while Japan was generously supplied with CAS and Interceptor Squadrons.
The hopelessly outmatched border army would need help to hold the Nip hordes in bay.
Before the condition of the newly assembled divisions could be assessed, the Nips attacked in great force.
The Japanese assault on Beijing would rise up to include a grand total of 30 divisions.
Led by general Feng Yuxiang, a christian general who had initially opposed Chiang and who had a reputation for baptising his troops, the 6 divisions conducted as desperate defence as endless armadas of bombers and several brigades of tanks with their supporting infantry assaulted their positions for 4 days.
The defense would be successful but not before many men would die.
Out of all the provinces, only the communists refused to become subordinate to the central government and sent only token forces in support.
The condition of the conscripted warlord armies was grim however. Mostly made up of militia armed with pre WW1 weaponry and severely understrength, without any heavy equipment, they were barely fit for garrisson duty much less for open warfare in Manchuria. The most telling of all were the antique cavalry divisions who were armed and organised along the lines of 1850 cavalry regiments not even trained in recon and capable only for charging the enemy with lances.
At the very best they could be used to relieve our coastal garrisons for frontline duty until their retraining and re equipment was completed by the mobilised KMT industry.

Replace those with Ha-Gos and this is what happens when nip armor meets chinks throughout the update.
The next attack counted upon a large number of IJA bombers and CAS bombing and strafing the chinese and hordes of infantry, supported by 8 armor brigades, advancing through the city after a massive artillery bombardment had reduced it to rubble.
All 6 of Feng's divisions fought to exhaustion and caused the enemy heavy casualties but they had to be pulled back before the IJA completely wiped them out. The 38th Division made up the rearguard and lost close to 90% of it's strength but the enemy attack was finally contained at the end of the city.
The reinforcements had arrived by rail to the front the moment the Tianjin offensive began. The defense was led by Zhang Xueliang, the "Young Marshal" whose father had die because of a Japanese train bomb in 1928. Tianjin was the last bridgehead across the river after the fall of Beijing and the first stepping stone to the liberation of Zhang's homeland of Manchuria.
Even though his troops were not rested, Chiang himself would rush to reinforce Tianjin and keep the city and port from falling into Nip hands.
Chiang's army would be mercilessly harassed during their river crossing but the engineer corp would assemble new bridges under the barrage and the advance would carry on despite the massive casualty rates.
Their sacrifices would not be in vain as nearly 100000 Nips would perish along with huge quantities of material. But the chinese would also suffer greatly, mostly under the endless armadas of IJA bombers.
The Nips would pull back their exhausted divisions and bring in new ones to renew the offensive.
A further number of fully rested 40 Divisions would assault the bridgehead at Tianjin.
Only this time the casualties would be more disproportionate in favor of Chiang. His exhausted troops would nevertheless hold the line and endure the endless bombings to absolutely murder the advancing Nips without mercy.
Despite their past promises, one by one, China's allies would abandon her in her time of need. Falkenhausen nevertheless was seen off with full honors for his past service.
Recruits would flock to the banners to replace the losses at the front.
The 3rd battle of Tianjin would prove to be an even greater victory than the last one as the Nips would keep throwing their men to the meat grinder. Tianjin would become the Stalingrad of the 2nd Sino-Japanese war.
The relieved divisions of the coastal armies would be forced into the 5th Corp under Long Yun, a former warlord and later subordinate commander in Tianjin who was promoted due to his bravery. Quoting:
His army would spearhead the offensive to liberate Beijing.
The Nip forces there were a disorganised horde of exhausted survivors from the Tianjin battles. Made up of 40 divisions, they were never the less in a state of confusion.
The Japanese would suffer massive casualties and fall back in a disorganised rout.
Beijing had been liberated.
The entirety of the Frontline Army would begin a series of offensives aimed at capitalizing on the shattered state of the Nip divisions.
The Liberation of Manchuria had begun.
Chiang would lead the offensive personally at the head of his victory-drunk 3rd Army.
The IJN would established a breachhead but reinforcements from Nanjing would see it reduced and eventually destroyed. The scratch companies suffered losses in the tens of thousands but they carried out their mission without fail.
The offensive would seize at Panjun to allow the troops time to rest, reorganise and resupply.
The Nips would try to force a river crossing with massed armies but Chiang would hold the line and push them back.
The new frontline would be established across the Manchurian Plain. Although not the best location, the river south would limit enemy offensives at the center, where the flanking armies could counterattack effectively.
The losses would even out as the Nips were pushed back closer to their supply lines.
Never 4get
A generalised new offensive was underway, but worrying news soon arrived as Nip divisions were rapidly increasing in number all across the front.
Despite their numerial superiority, the chinese would advance despite their heavy losses.
However, they would retreat the moment it became clear that they were a facing a grand total of 80 enemy divisions, newly arrived from Japan.
The enemy airforce would make the debut again, this time counting around a grand total of 28 CAS and TAC air wings, wreaking havoc across the open expanses of northern China.
General Feng would attempt a new offensive southwards, aiming to trap the enemy divisions in Port Arthur and then force them to surrender.
As the offensive was underway, a Nip attack on Changchun would be turned back on it's head.
The plan was to bait the large enemy army at Datong then force it into Port Arthur.
The ruse would succeed and the army at Shenyang would retreat back across the river. 20 enemy divisions were trapped in Port Arthur.
They would all be forced to surrender.
Further offensives at Changchun would be crushed. And despite the complete destruction of 20 enemy divisions, 20 more would arrive at the Korean border. The Japs were making good their losses while the KMT hadn't received a single new division for the duration of the war.
China also retooled all their industry into producing infantry divisions mounted upon trucks and towing their heavy equipment, greatly increasing operational speed.
As Nip reinforcements kept arriving at a frantic pace, their offensives would massively outnumber the exhausted defenders and eventually force them to retreat.
Even Chiang's legendary 3rd Army would be ordered to withdraw as it became clear that Manchuria could not be taken in the face of so many enemy divisions. A different plan had to be implemented.
]
Thankfully, a new army had recently finished training and was ready for service at the front. These divisions were desperately needed if the frontline was to be held, much less expanded.
In one of the most heroic defensive actions of the entire war, the 12 divisions of Wulanhote would be attacked by not less than 30 japanese divisions, amply supplied with tanks and supported by several CAS wings. Led by Xie Jinyuan, the defenders
ended up bayonet counter-charging the enemy infantry and sending them fleeing back to their own lines.
In the south, the 6 new divisions were put into dubious use in what seemed to be a mad gamble.
A sizeable offensive aimed at Korea began, the attacking divisions having shaky supply lines.
With the majority of Nip divisions concentrated in Manchuria, there was a good change of success.
The offensive succeeded at trapping 3 enemy divisions at the tip of Korea as well as isolating the Japanese from their major seaports and supplies.
A desperate offensive was ordered to shut the Manchuria-Korean connections. Led by Long Yun, it had a good chance of success.
Good news all around as Long Yun drove the attack home and the Nip offensives in both Manchuria and Korea were repulsed.
The central Manchurian plain had become a slaughterhouse as many brave patriots sacrificed themselves to keep the Nips from sending their forces from there to Korea.
The slaughter in Manchuria would continue unabated as Chiang would not let the Nips rest.
And at last, the 1st Motorized Army had finished training and received the entirety of it's equipment. As soon as they were organized, they'd be sent to Korea.

In a deep gorge , foot-weary, battle-battered Chinese troops were finally backed up against the bridge, retreated across it while the Japanese from the other side rained down fire on them. The Chinese left their dead behind them, blew up the bridge, and crawled up the winding road to the heights on the China side. Across from them the Jap's guns bayed at the scent of tired game. The Chinese had been beaten and battered beyond human endurance. One of them broke. Before his troops a general killed himself. The men wavered, looked toward the rear. To the front dashed Lung Yun (the Cloud Dragon), Governor of Yunnan Province With the dead general at his feet, he called on the little soldiers for another last stand. The Japs would soon cross the river, their rolling stock (tanks and trucks) were already massing on the bluff. They would have to be stopped. It would be hard. Every beaten soldier there knew that the Japs across the Salween were from the crack Red Dragon armored division.
His army would spearhead the offensive to liberate Beijing.
