Diablo 2 filled with bots, spammers and obnoxious a-holes

I don't think I want to play MXL any more.

As for the Icons, the only game in which I accepted and enjoyed obscure icons was Morrowind and that's because they were still distinct enough to be read fast after you got familiar with them, scaled down easily AND were anchored in the setting.

 

The thing I hate most with Diablo 2, Torchlight, Borderlands, etc... is the + chance to find magic items stats on gear. That shit just irritates the hell out of me and enforces my opinion that they are gradually turning design towards feeding the player pellets intermittently to keep them going instead of making enjoyable action that people want to continually experience.


EDIT: The item system should accentuate the combat - not the other way around.

To be honest MXL is a good mod and an improvement in terms of pure gameplay, it's just that single-player Diablo 2 is fundamentally a bad game by my standards. Granted, I never really got into the b.net thing either.

If you did like it (single-player D2, that is), then MXL will make it even better for you, I suppose.

 

uggh.. I was saving my game on D1 when the power company shut the power down for some maintenance or something and now my save is corrupted (only one megasave allowed on this mod I'm guessing because you can't name the save files). Since I don't feel like starting over again just this moment I think I'll try another game then come back to the D1 mod.

It is fun though and I would recommend it, I just don't sperg enough to replay stuff I just did lol. I made it up to level 16 and I never felt like I had enough gold to go blowing it on Wirt or other stupid chance games so the economy seems much better than the original.

 

You might want to consider buying yourself a UPS. You could also have backed up your saves manually...

Addessing some "points" made by others about Median XL:

Screenshots - they look like they were captured from youtube and then compressed to 10%, game doesn't look like that. Screenshots fail to represent - D2 engine is hardware accelerated with dynamic lighting (or some trickery), must be seen in motion to appreciate. I can get onboard with the modder going too far with the fireworks, but in motion it looks much better.

poor Icons and ripped sprites - mod is free, complaining about modder not painstakingly drawing original icons and sprites on par with paid pros is... being an ingrate. Being a veteran IE gamer I found the horde of Brother Poquelins in Black Marsh fucking funny, and the "demon AFK" umberhulk money-bags, but does anyone know what game the quill bears are from, I don't remember them?

 

I downloaded the MXL mod and I'll give it a try at some point. I'm going to finish The Hell Mod first (after PS:T).

Kinda started Planescape Torment now.. everybody here talks about it so figured I'd give it a go.... with the way the current game market is I'm sure I'll be able to finish these games and Grimoire before anything worthwhile is released.

 

In my opinion going mage with high Int and high Wis is the best way to play that game, you get more convo options and gain XP faster. Great game, I wish I was playing it for the first time.

 

I played Diablo vanilla somewhere around 2010. It was a heart-pumping adrenaline rush just oozing with atmosphere. Tried D2 later and it felt too much of a piñata simulator with significantly lesser atmosphere.

 

I swear to god the first time i played diablo 2, i spend 1 hour trying to beat diablo... he always insta kill me with 1 hit.

 

So I've been trying the power leveling techniques on Battle.net, just to see what it's like. Ready to do Baal runs, but not sure how it works. Seems like all the games I join go for the kill. Am I supposed to quit out after all the minions are dead, or can I keep going back even if Baal is killed? I'm just running to get to lvl 40 on Normal before going to NM.

Edit: nevermind. Game doesn't advance when you kill Baal. Duh.

 

Playing on Battle.net is a waste of time, playing on /players 8 with friends is far better.

Started playing The Hell for a bit yesterday, will play more in the weekend.
Choose monk, Level 1-2 were pretty easy, The Butcher would've been hard had I not the luck to find a staff that gave me 24-45 DMG (!!). Then I found a hatchet in level 2 that allows me to deal 90-something max dmg. Can't damage monster around me and the bad side is -20 or something hit chance, but DAMN when it hits it kills shit good.

Level 3, however, got quite harder when a bunch of Ghosts shooting Charged Bolt showed up. No lightining resistance, fuck!
So far my monk is still quite shitty IMHO, I don't even have any spells (lol low magic) and I'm spending most of my money identifying items. I got a lot of spell books I won't use anytime soon because of the step magic requirements, so far I'm hoping to eventually find a high-damage staff with a cool spell on it (Fireball would be awesome, but a lot of Charged Bolt charges go a long way, Identify, Town Portal or Heal would be cool too).

Also, I have no town portals of any sort lol, Adria ins't selling scrolls relicts and books are beyond me for now. That sucks.

 

I guess you still miss the joke. There wouldn't be anything made up if the survey happened as phrased.

 

Nothing has been said in the official Sacred 3 forums since April. It's possible that there was a reconsideration(or cancellation) done after all the backlash over lack of open world along with other changes.

 

Heh, I startered this as a barbarian, can managed to kill The Butcher with only a rare knockbacking shortbow. He cast a spell that gave him lots of HP regen which made killing him a bit long.
Now getting my ass kicked by that ghosts, one of their elite versions keep blinking around and use some nova kind of spell which makes short work of my barb.

 

Blizzard IS the joke at this point.
