12 - Clubbing

Nah, it's none of my business. I stood up for myself during the Initiation. It's up to Ellen to decide by herself, besides I don't want to make her feel awkward when Virginia discovers her name is missing. We're gonna stick together for a year, best not to raise too many issues. I wait for Ellen to write her name on the form, then I sign beneath hers.

I wonder if magical universities care about what clubs you were in at magical school. Is there a Magical Honor Society? Why did I join Virginia's club anyway? I should've picked something quieter, like Library Club. As Ellen and I move around the room, I see someone jump up onto the stage. It's Donald - Virginia's other brother. He pounds his fist on his chest a few times , then takes a deep breath -



He's... singing? He has a surprisingly good voice, strong and clear, even if the lyrics are nonsense. Blacks rapping and all that.

After they finish singing about spools and sealing wax or whatever, the boys make grandiose bows, and I applaud along with other students who were paying attention. It's not my kind of music, but they were pretty good at singing it.

I love these blue spells, they have so much utility to it. I can actually imagine myself using this for some kind of spywork. Maybe I can consider a career in espionage or something. Look out, Special Agent 47 in Alpha Protocol!

Man, I must be really tired or somehing, I can barely keep up with Ms. Potsdam's explanation. Oh well, whatever. I think I didn't too badly this week. Time to head back to my room.

Members list. We did it! We have enough people for an official club! Even if Liz still refuses to join because I said riding wasn't' a real sport.

Funny you mention toads. Horrible Donald put real toads in my bed when I was little. He was crushed that I didn't scream when I saw them. I still kicked his butt for being mean to the poor toads. I don't think they liked my bed.

13 - Prep time

I guess I should stay back and do some revisions. Twenty dollars isn't going to buy me much.

I stop a bit and think of the next part carefully.

I miss you guys. I've met so many people here and most of them are nice, but it's not the same.

My roommates and I have started a sports club. We had our first meeting today and played some pickup soccer. So don't worry, I'm getting plenty of exercise.

Guess this will do. To be honest, I don't really miss them. What I really miss most, is my room, with my desktop inside. It felt like the center of my world and now it's gone. With a sigh, I seal up the envelope and put it on my desk, ready to send. Gosh, it hasn't been a month yet. Why can't this school provide phone and internet services? It'd be so much easier to keep in touch! I decide to go for a walk around the campus to clear my mind.

As I wander around the buildings, I notice a tall figure tossing a ball up in the air and catching it. As I get closer, I realize that I'm wrong. He's not throwing it and catching it. He's not touching it at all.



With a flick of his wrist, he sends it flying upwards, where it eventually reverses course and comes back down again, to be caught when he manages to line up the tip of his wand with the falling sphere.

I try to summon up some kind of energy to push the ball, but nothing happens. The ball hits the ground and bounces away. Maybe I need a wand.

Most of these spells sound useful, but I don't really have much in the way of combat spells. As a mean for self defense, that is. Maybe I should diversify? Damn choices are so hard to make, I wish it's as simple as Diablo 3.

What kind of tests are they? Do we have to write essays or fight duels?
Look, all I know is that it's about casting spells. That's it! Now come on, we have to pick our schedules for the week.

The first exam is this week. I must not mess this up. But I've only picked up Blue and Black Magic classes so far. What if they test me on other schools of magic? Should I risk it?
