Did I see people using Witcher 3 as an example to bashing other games' graphic on codex again?

That game cost 80 million dollars and 4 years to make in Poland, and CDPR is known for abusing their workers. No RPG in recent years has even half of its budget.

And since when do we fucking care about hair physics again?

Which is why CDPR iswas great. Game developers are the single whiniest group of people on the planet, the only way to actually get results out of them is to stop treating them like rational human beings.

I agree with the kwan, all that whining about overtime working is really fucking annoying. Most works out there do have that shit lol,it is not like lumberjacks just throw a tantrum whe
n they have a to work overtime to fill the quota,or when bartenders fill in for a sick coworker and have triple shifts. Tho to be fair the most of the whining comes from a bunch of fat basement dwellers on youtube that haven't hold a job in their life. X company is bad because they have to work lol [IMG]. That is why when i see such retards on jewtube i always role me eyes and stop watching it,a bunch of liberal scum!

There's a difference between work and exploitation. You don't owe a company your dignity.

It is not like they force them shove manure and fill in the gloryhole stall. Which part of working overtime is connected with loosing your dignity?

You are not obligated to work overtime if your contract doesn't say so (in Europe). An employer can't force you to work more than a set amount of hours per week, exceeding that is exploitation and illegal. Being exploited and forced to do illegal labor is humiliating.

Nothing wrong with overtime if you're getting paid for it. Salary positions are a ripoff.

You might have a life outside of your job and would like to spend it however you wish. I know that's an alien concept for some people.

Except the real world doesn't work like that, huh. Most of the time anyway.

Prime Junta, this is why your socialist utopia isn't going to work out. People allow themselves to be exploited by the capitalist overlords, and think there's honor in it.

Or, some people actually want to put in more work than the required 40 hours a week and double their starting (pretty decent) salary in just over 2 years as a result. Doesn't really feel like exploitation to me, but you do you, girlfriend.

Anyway, referring to Bloodlines 2 specifically, it doesn't matter if you make them work a 100-hour weeks and keep them cranked up on speed to maintain focus and productivity, the game's still gonna be a bland, mediocre pile of sludge because the people in leading positions were hired not based on their previous experience, skill or talent, but because of how hard they virtue-signal on Twatter.

It won't work because nothing will ever get done. Even the soviets realized this. Also, the "honor" bit is pretty ironic.

You're telling me that pretty much no-name Russians (and Larian too) can get 2 mln on Kickstarter easily but games with big publishers behind them don't have even twice as much?

Except an employer can't force you to do anything, you can always quit.

The people who are the loudest to whine about crunch/"forced" overtime and such are usually game devs so if we're limiting this discussion on them, then the fact that "real world doesn't work like that" is a poor excuse for the fact that they're cowards. If you're a decent software dev, you really shouldn't have a hard time finding another job with same/similar pay fairly quickly (and preferably away from the vidya industry which is a den of pure evil at this point) so there's nothing holding them back.

Is there any other profession that's as loud and whiny when it comes to overtime like game devs? I really can't think of one, which is especially ludicrous because software devs have a decent amount of leverage to get what they want from their employers as theirs is a fairly highly sought after skill set.

Yes, they can, by threatening to fire you but you need the money because you live in a terrible system that encourages/results in living on a paycheck-by-paycheck basis. Game devs are routinely emotionally extorted because for a lot of them that's their dream job. They might be able to find a new job, but they want to keep working as a game dev, so they put up with the abuse. This is not a good thing and in no way justifies the abuse and exploitation.

lol. Yeah. Game developers love crunch. Just ask them, they'll all agree it's their favorite part of the job.

Terrible system = living in Californian neighborhoods where people making 6 figures a year barely make ends meet because of how ridiculously expensive everything is. If only there were 49 other states they could live in....

And I want Monica Bellucci to sit on my face, but tough luck.

And the best way of changing it is using the leverage you have against your employers, not by taking it like a little bitch because you're a child that refuses to grow up and stop playing with his favorite toys.

Well, if they hate their work conditions so much, maybe they should, and I hope you're sitting down for this because the solution I'm about to propose will blow you away, quit.

Yeah, go work for that developer that has no crunch and lots of open jobs and no competition to get them. "Just work a job that's great instead", I mean, if that's how your life has gone, I'm glad for you, but this isn't actually useful advice in the real world. It's along the lines of "You're hungry and broke? I don't get it, why don't you just draw more out of your trust fund?"

Kind of amusing how they seem to get jobs that are highly sought and extremely competitive but unable to get jobs in a traditional sector for their profession but ok
really, the only devs who have this argument are game designers where their experience is worthless outside of game development
