That could be explained if your nation is somehow special about requiring swamps, deserts, forests, etc.
Afaik, the game tries to place capitals in a well suited province.

Come on, Muty, I did not skip Nazca in favor of mighty mermen just so that you can now decide not to use them!

Oh the game is definitely 24hr, I think the first turn defaults to 48hr so people have time to "get in" the game. Since with auto-start sometimes games can begin at awkward times when someone submits the last pretender.

? You know the game well enough to set your commanders to hold 5 times and then stay behind troops. How the hell did this happen? Was it just a super stray arrow?

CENSORED held up the turn by sending that message to everyone.

Also, the in game messaging system is a piece of poop but it might be an interesting diplomatic game if it was the only messaging system you were allowed to use.

Sometimes you want to lure archers with a decoy unit set to guard commander. If the commander's tough enough it's pretty safe... Most of the time.

If you're concerned about commander safety, why not just put C into backrow and put his guard in front of enemy archers, so they run towards the commander?

In my experience, at least during early expansion phase, using decoys with "guard commander" exposes said commander to 2-3 volleys if the enemy has fast troops. I had better results with lone decoys set to "hold---> attack rear".

But I'm a total newb so maybe I'm doing something wrong...

Huh, if your commander is in the back row and the enemy archers acquire target front most, why and how is your commander exposed to volleys?

Archers acquire target on decoys who have 'guard commander' orders -> decoys run to commander in the back row -> archers follow and run forward a bit and fire on the decoys who are now chilling in the back row with the commander -> commander gets a stray arrow in the eye.

I understand decoy as in "have the archers walled by infantry before they can shoot at guards again". If you take horsies or something equivalently fast, they'll never be able to fire that stray arrow.

The bean counters of our celestial bureaucracy have been especially good this month, I have too much money. Who wants some? Taoism is, after all, a philosophy of balance.
