    Yes, he's actually worse here than in the old games because before he had to have dead bodies to properly resurrect but in this game he simply summons them in by the dozens. The only classic Doom enemy they did justice to, imo.

    Arch-vile I didn't find to be a problem even during first encounters. I was honestly more annoyed when I had to search for these fucking Buff Totems. Arch-viles were at least immediately visible.

    The CHAD Boomer: Effortlessly kills all Barons of Hell in E4M1, plays Plutonia Experiment as a pre-work out.

    The virgin zoomer: Gets lost in E1M5, concludes game is too dated for his big brain glory kill ways and resumes toy hunting on his automap.

    lol this noob doesn't even use lock on rockets to kill him in about 3s.

    But seriously this is what I meant by higher difficulties being heavily about memorizing spawns. You know where the powerful enemies spawn and they go down effortlessly quickly. And its not like OG Doom where you had to expend BFG ammo to take down archviles quickly. Grenades are free and take zero time out of shooting things. DoomE is very heavily about abusing your free actions whether its grenades, flamer, or dash. The only complexity is that this isn't turn based D&D but real time FPS, so keeping track of all the buttons and cooldowns becomes the real challenge in longer fights.

    If Doom Eternal's combat is repetitious and gives the player no choice but to play the game exactely the way it wants, then Sekiro's combat is 10x times more guilty of this charge.

    They did him well except for the looks. Original had this unique spectral appearance which i personally consider one of the best one in any shooter i've seen. The looks and the attack animation are just very cool where as here they made him look like this humanoid crab hybrid and his shield and attack are also not as cool looking as they should have.

    Yeah he doesn't do that "raises arms and fire shoots out" thing that I've seen and doesn't have that evil laugh, but at least he's one of the few demons that makes you feel something urgent as soon as you're alerted to its presence.

    Art team has done well considering all they had to work with were muddy 90x90 sprites. Stupid changes imo = giving Barons of Hell flame-scythes. Why? They look bad-ass enough. lol.

    EDIT: The Cyber Demon is definetely an improvement over Doom '16. Very faithful to the original.

    What's more perplexing is that 2016 Doom did the Barons how they always looked and here in Eternal I wouldn't have guessed those were supposed to be Barons of Hell if it wasn't for the "new entry" thing popping up on the side after killing one. They don't even throw out the green fireballs and instead just rush at you or do some ground stomp thing. It would've made more sense if this was a new updated look for the Hellknight and could have at least been seen as a callback to Doom II when they shared the same sprites (except one was brown, one was pink).

    Probably made the call to can the fireballs with all the shiny health/ammo drops after every kill. Egh. Glad you can turn the brightness down on that shit anyway.

    Too bad they made him a chump. You can 1 shot him with just 1 Crucible charge. Should have been 3 for Super Heavy enemies.

    Pinky Demon is no push over this time too. A lot of the lesser demons have been given stronger status, weird changes. But the challenge is still here overall, so I can't complain.

    Pinky is the same as he was in Doom 2016.

    Cyberdemon is retarded though. He looks "faithful" to the original but he looks just tall and lanky and not particularly threatening and he isn't particularly dangerous either. No point even wasting crucible ammo for it, you can just dance around him no problem. Just did the room right before you teleport to the heaven world and there's like two million demons around him and i still managed to take him down pretty easily and i used the BFG only after he dropped. I then got killed by a snake guy which are much more annoying, but i managed to get my challenge lmao. There's that challenge arena way earlier that has two of them kinda of underwhelming to see only one here, right before the last level.

    One Blood Punch kills him. He's easier in Eternal than he was in 2016. Another cool thing you can do with slow mo rune is to grapple onto him, then reposition mid air to get a shot at his ass while you are closing in.

    Even with a very low ammo cap Super Shotgun is my most used weapon, that flaming hook is way too good.

    That was a different id though. This one only made Doom 2016 before Eternal.

    Yeah of course. They can still hold their rep for making solid shooters though. I believe Rage was the last title Carmack worked on before he left, not a masterpiece, but the gunplay was still solid - newbies at id have at least learned how to manage that. Honestly don't feel any different about these new Dooms than I did for Doom 3, changes they've made to it are odd, level design sucks, but id always seems to make an addictive shooter despite this. Hard to really fuck up when all they have done is FPS.

    The gunplay in Rage 2 was very good as well, much better than Doom Eternal in my opinion. Sadly most other things about that game sucked, so it has a horrible rep. I'd still take it over this though.
