Oh ho. Well, in that case, I had better up my game. I was assuming a lot more leeway.

Anyway, it only confirms how much we need to close the damn thing.

Since we're on the subject, what about the roof of the gateroom? Is it secured?

And what about all the other points of potential ingress?

The exhaust tunnels etc (I'm guessing they were sealed after it was no longer a missile site though). And I am assuming we sealed the south entrance as well as the north? Or does the SGC only have one main gate due to it being the only one shown on the show?

Trying to shove a howitzer shell down the shaft? :M
    Show Spoiler
They really are going to do that, aren't they?

And as you pointed out, they could have and would have invaded and still can. Then we'd have to seal it anyway, but we'd lose a lot of troops in the process.

The worst part of the Mad Max crew is that unless we kill them, they may never leave. I could see a religion developing so that even if we left them there for 1000 years, they would be worshiping the mountain, trying to drill the gate or just sticking their dicks in the rock holes like retarded savages.

Mad Max crew didn't even have water for more than a day. Unless they found a untained water source, they have either moved on, are killing each other, or are currently slurping some delicious radiation-tainted water.

And those berserkers that would have stormed down the hatch had I not mentioned it would have come from where?

Only one day has gone on, they probably still have supplies. But unless they get more, they should go elsewhere soon.

Elsewhere being down the hatch and into the base.

But hey, go talk to them. Get one of those cool Mad Max hats or face masks. What's the worst that could happen?

    - They're definitely still around and just need a little more time before leaving. No need to panic and seal the door or risk sending someone out.

    Day 57

The UAV footage revealed two more barbarian armies within 10 clicks, one 3,000 strong and the other 11,000. Without uniforms or banners, none of the SGC Command Staff could determine whose side they were on. The SGC recovered all UAVs. 'Crom Fort' recovered 400 earth prisoners from the foe's ecampment and and 200 barbarians too confused or injured to flee. The fort looted the enemy's camp and recovered enough of some dried meat and grain analogue to subsist for several months. They buried the corpses (not many) in a shallow pit. Wellesy strengthened the fort with machineguns and mortars. If those failed, it would be possible to evacuate through the gate, now safely enclosed behind the timber walls.

The interpreters strove to learn the language of Burrock's world. Dr. Jackson noted that only did the Burrockim use bipedal aliens for heavy labor, they also worked their fields with chained human laborers. That the aliens wore clothes indicated they possessed some intelligence. That the human forced workers looked no different than the rest of the Burrockim suggested they were criminals or debtors. Jackson traded matches and photographs for samples of their food.

Wellesy found himself thinking about the sealed samples of the Mo'nekh virus kept in the base biolab. It was a common sickness amongst the Goa'uld's subject populations who had adapted to it in millenia past. SG-8 had unknowingly brought a strain back to Earth two months into the Stargate program. Hammond had managed to quarantine it on the base and Fraser had managed to save all but two of the base personnel but that had required copious sums of antibiotics and intravenous therapy. If such a strain reached the Alpha Site, there was no predicting how high a percentage it would claim, as there simply were not enough medical supplies to treat all the thousands of colonists. Wellesy was not immune either. On the other hand, if the strain infected the mob outside the base doors, weakened as they were...

The two men he had sent topside returned with a young boy, who had seen them returning to the escape hatch. Not wanting to leave or to kill him, the airmen had instead settled on kidnapping. After being told he wouldn't be hurt, the boy cried about his father and sister on the outside, drawing the attention of everyone eating at the DFAC. Airman Hamm, who had done the kidnapping, loudly promised to bring back the father and sister. Then he asked about their names and appearance.

    ---
"You made a promise." Wellesy repeated.

"I just wanted him to stop crying, sir. He's a little guy. Henderson and I felt bad grabbing him like we did. Fraser death-glared us when we dropped him in the infirmary."

"And you say there are only 10,000 left outside."

"Yes, sir. We don't know if the others will be back or really what's going on at all out there, except that some of them are foraging in the woods. The kid's dad and sister were probably nearby. They gotta be freakin' out."
    ---

    decisions (open)

A1) Send Airman Hamm to lure the kid's father and sister out of the mad-max horde for kidnapping.
    A2) Don't.

    B1) Out-wait the horde.
B2) Send agents to infiltrate and spread rumors of a Federal Relief Agency providing emergency relief in Utah.
B3) Send Colonel Makepeace to stab a mad-maxman with a Mo'nekh tainted syringe.

A2>A3*) What are we going to kidnap a whole family just for a "happy" ending? Send the little shit to Land of Light. It's a better life than he would have known on Earth. Call it a good deed and leave this shit alone.

B2>B1) B2 only if A3 doesn't win and B1 ONLY if A3 does win. Frankly, infecting anyone with the virus is a bad idea. It could quickly spread nationwide or even worldwide, mutate and then come back to bite us in the ass. That said...

*A3 is my mega dick option. Set the kid free, but stick him with the needle right before you do. Whack him over the head and leave him near their camp, so that he can't locate the base entrance. How's that for a happy ending? Only do it if the kidnappers are sure he can't lead the mad maxers here. :M

    THEY'RE FREAKING UNAS!!!

GET JACKSON OUT OF THERE. The bleeding heart will instigate a rebellion to free the Unas and fuck over a potential ally for a bunch of dumb reptilian niggers who are literally useless the entire series!

I'm not spreading alien diseases into Earth. Humanity just got raped enough, we don't need to spread a lethal virus to whatever remains. Besides, in the long haul, we want to put those survivors to good work as we find more worlds to settle, not to kill them. Sending an agent can backfire as well.

If some mad maxers remain after we try to wait them out, it might be a good idea to try and contact them. Maybe need might make them more pliable to our requests.

Anyone remember if we have some kind of mind wiping device in SG, I forgot. We could really use something to go men in black on him and dump him outside with no knowledge of where he was and how he got there. The kid is a liability, either he will lure the manboons to our sekrit entrance and piss them off more causing an assault on the base or our morale drops if he keeps bitching near our airmen. It is a no win situation, but the secret entrance must stay secret or we face worse than mutinous airmen.

B2) Send agents to infiltrate and spread rumors of a Federal Relief Agency providing emergency relief in Utah.

This also ties to the kid choice, I think the only way to get rid off him without putting the base in danger from morale or manboons is to have most of the horde leave somehow. Only a small group of the truly dedicated would stay... like a family looking for a missing kid (just look at all the real life cases of missing white women parents refusing to accept their daughters could be dead even years later).

This would be still a risk, but if we get most of the manboons out we could just overwhelm them and take back the surface. Also if they go on a trip to Utah or elsewhere they will take the howitzer and heavy guns with them making it easier. With Crom secure we could send back some forces that could sally out and pacify the manboons once most of them leave. Then we can split the captives up, send them to multiple colonies (except Crom, unless as punishment) so that the news of the secret entrance does not spill out to another manboon horde. Family stays together and gets hope on a new world, secret entrance remains secret, we do no morally questionable actions and our people do not question our leadership.

    George Wellesy as a Colonel

    Day 58

Jack O'Neill laced up his boots. He was scheduled to head off-world in less than an hour. Very likely, another hostile army would arrive to besiege the fort, and the general wanted him overseeing the defenses. The civilians muttered about having been dropped off onto a hostile winter planet with no supplies but not too loudly. They feared the military abandoning them. The colonel hoisted on his vest as another member of his team entered the locker room.

    "Carter."

"Sir, I..." She turned her eyes down.

"You have my undivided attention." He checked the safety and pushed and loaded a magazine.

"I need to tell you..." She trailed off. He looked up and spread his palm. The woman held very still. "It's that... I..."

"You can stop." The colonel said. "I saw this in a movie. A lot of movies."

"It happens, I guess." A short laugh. "What are we going to do?"

"I'm going to Crom." He brushed past and shouted over his shoulder. "We'll think of something."

    ---

Cassandra Fraser scrolled to the next page. Again, she felt the involuntary twitch to check Instagram but, of course, Instagram was gone. Facebook, Twitter, Google search, myriads of pornography, EasyStudy, Reddit, Quizzler, Buzzfeed--all erased. All the base network had was an old copy of wikipedia. Her father, like her mother, was an officer in the airforce. He was in Germany. She would would never know if he survived. Her parents had split up too long ago for her to remember. Before the bombing, Cassie had known nothing of the aliens, only that her mother had grown increasingly agitated (though she tried to hide it), started stockpiling canned food in their house and taught her daughter how to use the handgun. The day before Colorado Springs was blasted off the face of the earth, Janet had warned her daughter that she might be gone for a long time and told her to stay in the house. Then she left and never came back.

The shock wave had rattled the house and cut out the power. Cassie wept in the basement. Sheets of dust tore past outside and even the inside grew a chalky. After a week, she saw a gang of men breaking into the neighbor's house. The next day, they returned to shatter the glass pane of the back door and slide it open. They stumbled around shouting to each other as she hid downstairs. One of them came down the steps. She pointed the handgun at his face.

"Hey," he said. "I'm not going to hurt you. Are you alright? You all alone here?"

She was too terrified to say anything.

"Ok, then." He backed up. "I'm leaving. Just don't shoot me. If you change your mind, we're holed up at the community center. Guys, this stuff belongs to someone. Let's get out of here."

They had left all their loot on the kitchen table. After a week, Cassie decided to follow them but they had abandoned the community center, (the pool water was gray with ash), so she went back to the house. More than two weeks later, airmen looking like black ops from the old school video game Call of Duty and saying her mother had sent them.

It turned out that Janet Fraser's job at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex involved aliens and teleportation to different planets. The electricity, running water, laundry machines, hot showers and cooked meals almost convinced Cassie things were normal again. Only thing was, her mother wanted her to help with the infirmary, which, she supposed, wasn't unreasonable, but it meant she had to study. Amygdala, epidermis, pancreas...

She shoved back the keyboard and set off for the DFAC. The meals all tasted the same but it was still better than canned food in the rad-suburbs. She sat down across from the general on the officer's side of the mess.

"Hi, I'm Cassie. It's like, I know, you're important and busy, but we should get to know each other, 'cause we're all here permanently."

Wellesy wiped his mouth with a cloth napkin. "I can have you relocated to the Alpha Site. It's safe now. Rush has leveled the forest for a few miles around the colony. Sunshine. Other people your age."

"No. Dr. Fraser and the others are teaching me nursing here. I want to help."

"I'm sure you'll be very helpful." He lifted his tray. "Have a good day, Cassie."

"Hope we see each other again." She smiled.

    ---

Major Carter stepped into the office in her dress uniform. "Sir."

    "You've found something."

"Yes, sir. We've worked out how to deactivate the naquadah reactor on the Goa'uld opium planet. With your permission, we can disassemble it and move it to the Alpha Site to power another settlement."

    "Well done." Wellesy nodded.

"Also, sir, I'm... pregnant." At his raised eyebrow, she continued. "Fraternization, actually. Violation of regulation. I'm really sorry but the Goa'uld destroyed earth and... we thought--why not? I know there are reasons for these rules (discipline will collapse if superiors become too close to their subordinates) but---given the circumstances--could you waive it and let us get married?"

    Wellesy closed his eyes. "O'Neill?"

    "Yes, sir."

    ---

    decisions (open)

    A1) Grant Carter's request.
A2) Overlook the offense on condition she pretend the father is a civilian.
A3) Use the pretext to demote O'Neill and raise Colonel Makepeace to your second in command.

B1) Check on the surface again.
    B2) Don't.

A number of captured barbarians are within Crom fort:
    C1) Free them.
C2) Keep them imprisoned for now (eating your supplies.)
    C3) Kill them.
C4) Offer them as tribute to the next barbarian army (eating supplies in the meantime.)
C5) Try giving them to Burrock's World as a gift of slave labor.

    Well, fuck.
Guys, how did the Brotherhood of Steel deal with this?

I'm not a fan of allowing Carter her request; this is no doubt going to open a floodgate, and generally fuck discipline up. We have already been having serious discipline problems. We can't make exceptions.

Aparently 1998 american spec-ops were dumb enough to allow women to serve. Silly kwans! Is it too late to desert to Russia?

I'm not interested in taking a peek on the surface right now. Better wait for a while. We know about the secret entrance and they can't breach our door.

I prefer keeping the prisioners alive for now. They might have other friends and allied tribes outside. Not to mention, helps our linguists to learn the language.

    A2B2C2

In 1998? I was a seven-years old kid, but I'm pretty we had none of these back then. I do remember Google existing, but it was just another search site back then.

    A1) Grant Carter's request.

I thought about this and the best option is to use this as precedent to rewrite the rules to allow this, but make it clear in the new rules that personnel will be reassigned (even to assignments beneath their station depending on the will of the chain of command) to prevent conflict of interest and other nepotistic practices. We would acknowledge that the post-ITZ situation requires the military to adapt which could be used to impose an ad hoc temporary legal structure that could evolve into a proper government if there is none left in Kwa anymore.

Of course I have no fucking clue what the legal way to do this in the air force would be which could come back to bite us in the ass if it is against current military law. Wikipedia and anywhere else online is not clear if the military can set rules by itself in times of crisis or if this is up to congress and the generals need to suck up to them politards to change the rules.

    B2) Don't.

They will be looking for the kid still, we gotta wait a while until everyone but the family and some hard-liners stay. Just have someone guarding that entrance on our side.

C2) Keep them imprisoned for now (eating your supplies.)

At face value this choice is shit, it means we have to babysit them and feed them. There is one advantage it has, do we know *who* these guys are? If we are lucky they are ransom material, if not then they should at least be a decent source of intel on our geopolitical situation. We need to know who hates who on Crom and we could use it take out the natives conquistador style, assuming there is anything useful on this fucking rock to bother with colonialism.

BTW I forgot if we got all the personnel back already or if there is any still missing. If we have all and this world offers nothing else we should ditch it.

Reeeee! It was made in 1997 onwards and prior. There was no facebook etc. :M

But glad to know we have a hot young thot to reproduce with. There are no age of consent laws in our military dictatorship. :M

Incline. Glad to see the old dog finally got to bone his nerd.

A3>A1, we can always promote him later. We can let them marry though. It gives them a reason to live, but there need to be consequences - though these are extenuating circumstances and therefore a pardon would be justified. Usury, is marriage still an option in A3?
    B1
    C5>C4>C3
    - I really don't want to kill prisoners unless we have no other option, but setting them free outright would just give our enemy intel. Offering them as tribute might be better, but currying favor with the slavers is preferred.

edit: and I'm assuming the "yes!" rating was an answer to my question about marriage, since I edited in the C explanation, so A3 is best. Kills two birds with one stone, gives O'Neil a reason to live and does something the series couldn't until the end.

I have reset the time to current year, because this allows P-90s and all the prosperous esoterics of western civ in full flower. That's why you get such delights as the command SARC. This means all characters are some twenty years younger, so as to match ages in the show. O'Neill never ran missions in East Germany but quite likely in Iraq. Likewise, SGC personnel camped out on Abydos for months, gathering a lot of information, before Ra showed up and slaughtered them. However the supreme system lord was impressed by their technology and resolved to wipe out Earth.

Likewise, retconned Cassie Fraser into an Earthling.

Kwan fraternization rules involves some arcane calculus. It is permissible to be married, or to marry someone of equal rank, (provided she's not lower or higher in the chain of command.) It is also acceptable to marry someone of entirely different rank so long as there is no chain of command. Marriage does not excuse previous fraternization. Carter's not asking for permission to marry because of some traditional idea of propriety (nobody thinks that way) but rather because she wants to continue the relationship and circumstances mean it is no longer possible to do so in secret.

I'm punishing O'neill. Discipline is falling down and it is time people remember that we're a military outfit.
I've had it with our soldiers and civvies doing shit they're not supposed to. Its going to be Full Military Dictatorship rules from now on.
