After reading the title I half expected it to be about the PC version having auto attack removed because there were not as many buttons pushed resulting in less awesome happening.

I too fail to see the issue. To get a true feeling of how visceral the combat is one needs to mash the button anyway.

Patching for XBOX will require online access correct? Online access that you purchase through Microsoft. Buy the game, forced to get online to update the game because it shipped as an alpha build.

I think I have to concur, that DA2 is the best thing to happen around here for a long time, such a fucking amateur job from an allegedly AAA Dev being released like this, its a fucking goldmine of hilarity. The thing that brings me back to earth with a shuddering crash is, the Biofans, they really bring this entire farce into a horrifying reality shock, they love the changes, they excuse the developers, they happily eat the shit being dumped on them, and they clamour for more.

They are the new gamers, they are a reflection of what the new demographic will be targeting. The land whale sofa cows, the twilight gamers, the cowadoody kids, the new shallow generation will be the next target, and such a broad target it is. Do you know what the lowest common denominator is? 1. The ronriest number.

They leave out this 'feature' for the consoles. They leave out high res textures for the PC version. They leave out the RPG bits. What a fucking shambles.

That's not all. Patches for the 360 (and I assume the PS3) have to go through Microsoft's (and Sony's) QA department before they can be released, which apparently can take a long time. The patch also can't be above a certain size, and there are other random restrictions. So even if they manage to get the patch together in short order, it'll probably be a few months before they can deploy it.

That level of access is free on the 360. You know come to think of it how can they have a manufacturing fail on both the 360 and the PS 3. How can it be the same file. This was on purpose. I think EA has more to do with it than Bioware. Not to let Bioware off the hook but EA lives off of the uninformed. I agree with you. This will wake a lot of people up. The console version will be a joke. The fast combat combined with having to bang just to watch animations will turn people off of button mashing.

In combat this manifests as a more real-time experience. Every basic attack is now triggered by a button press rather than the activate-and-watch method of old. To begin with, it feels weird. Mashing the A button over and over is quite clearly Not RPG.

But as with all things Dragon Age, the wisdom in the change becomes clearer over time. Once you've added some extra ability shortcuts to your battle menu the tactical nature shimmies into focus.

Every sword swing, every arrow fired, every spell unleashed is now at your command, and it can't help but make the fights feel more visceral and satisfying – especially when you're able to explode enemies into bloody chunks.

You can still use the radial menu to pause the action and hop from character to character, but combat is too fast and frantic for this to ever feel natural. With no auto-attack, fights feel more fast-paced and chaotic, thanks in part to the fact that I was playing a rogue who flipped wildly between enemies in a hypnotic shower of blood. It's action-heavy, sure, but also requires some tactical forethought. A straight fight between an enemy and my sneaky duelist would rarely pan out well, which required me to constantly be aware of my tougher warrior buddy's actions and location. I'm not a big proponent of the "stop and give orders" approach to combat, but Dragon Age 2[/i] provides just the right blend of strategy and stab...egy for my tastes.

EA doesnt pay for reviews directly. I know how they do it though. With the way the economy is web entrepreneurs are looking for the advertisement dollars and if you write anything to negative on EA who gives out money to small sites they arent printing it.

Some sites will offer their writers more freedom.
