Well, I guess they're not gaining anything from the forums. They've got enough bugs to keep them busy far past what their funding will allow. So from the perspective of giving everyone a timeout while they work on what they have prioritized, I don't have a problem with it. From the persepective of muting criticism to milk every last sale in the first month before dumping the game, I have a big problem with it.

There is always the possibility that their forum is setup as well as their game, and it really does need maintenance. ;)

There were othe parts of the forum where some inter-fan (I use the term "fan" loosely) Q&A was going on for those who were stuck in parts of the game.
Some questy bits were rather badly handled, so I was hoping for some hints from the forum.
    But alas...

On another note, I killed a Drake/Dragon-thingy yesterday. It wouldn't fly around the side of a building, so I positioned myself in such a way that some posts deflected it's balls of fire.
After half an hour of clicking away at it with my bow (done in shifts throught out the day, during coffee breaks), I managed to kill it. I then got a massive amount of exp which I then pumped a heap of skills up with.
Enemy AI really is the pits in this game.

He said three words. Two of them were only a couple letters. That's hardly being defensive.

    dungeon lords patch

hello all, i have a question and a problem.
i got the new patch to upgrade the game with the fixes and such. i had been playing it for a couple days already. i installed the patch and it wont even load now. it goes to the first intro screen, music gets choppy and then goes back to desktop with error message to m$.

anyone know what might be the problem? i had to reinstall the game again. but before i play it, i wonder if i should now try the patch again?

    any help will be appreciated,

    thanks,

    scott

I recommend small claims court to get your money back, if that fails you could always sell your copy to shagnak.

    Re: dungeon lords patch

No idea, man. The game is buggy as fuck, as well as being empty.
When the DreamCatcher forums go back online (in just a few days) I recommend you go there.

    No thanks!
I recommend not buying it in the first place, and using someone else's copy.

Kirk - turning off onboard sound may help (that was the fix being reported by some on the tech boards). But then again it may not. As shagnak said, the game has 'issues'.

Find the uninstall option. Should be there somewhere and presuming it works, it should fix all the problems you have with the game.

Maybe you have to find the Mayors daughter before you can uninstall it.

(Its the same with the demo, there is no uninstaller and it doesnt show up in Add/Remove programs, oh skippity fucking do-dah, time to go root around the registry to delete left over shit.)

Thats how i uninstalled it. you have to pul;l up your list from start menu. the select thru the sections. theres a uninstall option.

now then, as i said before, i now have a fresh install of the game itself, not played yet, does anyone think, or know if i should now, install the patch, before i play the game, and see if that correct the loading prob, i had after first try of patch?

i know it must work, too many folks have done it already. thanks, mefi. i may try that.

and also thanks to shagnak. i will go to the dreamcatcher forums, if i can find out how to get there. guess do a google for it.

thanks all, if anyone still knows what i need to do, (besides, burning the damn thing, etc....) let me know.

    thanks,

    Cpt Kirk

    Heh.

Once again. really don't know. The thing is, your primary source of sorting out this problem (i.e. the DC forums) has been yanked out from under you. Bad form, I say.
You really need to get the thing going (if at all) with the latest patch, and any following patches for that matter. Some early annoyances are fixed...and believe me this game needs some good patching.
I remember some (not many) threads about the patch borking save games for some people. Once again, I can't corroborate because the forums are down.
I would recommend just giving it a go, but making sure you back up your save games first. ("save" folder in your install folder)

Thank you for pointing this out, and you are correct, I was a bit too obvious for an intelligent person like yourself. In my defence I was fishing for Texans and they only bite on the super happy sized, mega meal deal worm.

Holy sarcasm filter Batman! If I got you for thinking you got me, does that mean I win? Or do you win for making me think that I got you when you got me? But the big phish didn't bite at all :(
