Maybe it is due to the fact that retroarch creates a different memcard/save file for each cd? I would check the save files in the retroarch folder (or where it usually saves)

Hmm indeed, I do have two .srms. Did they really think this one through? Multi disc games are hardly uncommon.

It's a toggle in core options (shared memory card). But yeah - playing multi disc games requires some skill in RA.
But normal people quicksavescum anyway, so they don't care about "console" saves. :obviously:

I only quicksave if the game has no save option to begin with.

Hi, I'm interested in playing NieR (2010) at some point. I have no PS3, and even if I did have one it would be very difficult for me to get a copy of the game where I live.

I use emulators to play SNES and Amiga games, and I have never emulated a modern console before. Can I play that game with RPCS3? Can I use my Xbox One controller with it?

I checked the compatibility list, but still felt like asking in case someone had first-hand experience. Sorry for the newbie questions.

It should be no problem to play Nier on RPCS3. Never used an Xbox controller with it, but I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Any controller works fine, just that you have to mentally map the physical controller buttons to the ingame ones.

Yes, it works fine. There are some special emulator settings required, check the wiki. Use the 60fps patch if your system can handle it. There is also an unofficial translation patch for Replicant if you prefer the Japanese voice acting and/or being onii-chan instead of papa.

BROS. Just a heads up for Avast users trying to emulate Xinput via x360ce. Latest update of Avast's Behavior Shield breaks x360 compatibility. You won't be able to configure the emulator (x360ce.exe) at all:

You have to disable this shield to launch the exe:

OFC adding the exe / directory to the list of Exceptions doesn't work and the Shield does not log its activities (the way File Shield does, moving suspected files to shitbox and stuff).

Only disabling the Behavior Shield works. Or uninstalling Avast...

Naturally figuring this shit out took me some sweet time...

Update: This shit also fucks up some installers. Esp. old ones:

Uninstalled shield, if problems persist, will uninstall Avast...

CEMU now supports multicore for XCX which should boost performance by quite a lot.

Does anybody know if it's possible in RetroArch on Android to make the status bar not disappear when you launch a game?
Also I'm baffled as to the sucky performance in the GBA cores, mGBA seems to be the only one able to run certain games at 60fps, but being able to provide just that is not sufficient for fast forward to work properly, which is such a nice feature to have when playing tactics/strategy games. My cell phone model is Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

There is a new Switch emulator Ryujinx - has anyone tried it? Any advantages over Yuzu?

Haven't tried it, seems to be a bit behind Yuzu but also has some advantages, mainly in XC2. Still not really playable though.

I gave Xenia a brief go to get a feel for it. First impressions - the UI is about as barebones as it gets, and you need to fiddle with inis to get it going. Lost Odyssey seems playable though not perfect - the camera would do quick 720 flips on attack, there were serious audio issues in some scenes and it did crash on me eventually. I was surprised how demanding it was graphically - 720p60 caused my 1070 to hit 100% load, and 3770k about 70% load (30 fps was ~50%) while 1440p (it only supports integer scaling of either 1x or 2x native res) would give me just over 20 fps, sheesh. But it was a fun experiment, I'll get back to it once the emu has matured more.

I also returned to RPCS3 with Drakengard 3 which indeed can run much better than it does on native hardware, though not only did I not manage to get the 60 fps patch working, but my CPU was already hitting ~80% at 30 fps so I'd probably only get 40 fps on a sunny day even with the patch working. This was on 1440p - RPCS3 seems to handle higher resolutions just about how you'd expect.

I cannot get anything to load under Ryujinx, despite following instructions on BSOD channel.

By this point, I am not bothering anymore. Yuzu is bound to support Animal Crossing soon enough, anyway.
