    Show Spoiler
A guy has been fumbling towards making a Jagged Alliance-type game for about 10 years, putting together various prototypes, scrapping them and starting again in between other projects. Last year he got serious and has been working on the "for real" version, under the dubious project title End State. JA and X-Com are his major gameplay inspirations, and counterterrorist type games like Rainbow 6 and Counter-Strike are cited as thematic inspirations.

Looks like the systems will be deep and complex, with action points, interrupts, robust stealth ... well, here are the bullet points from the Greenlight page:
The official website is here. The game went on Steam Greenlight a couple days ago.

Yeah it looks a cut above what we're getting nowadays.
I wanna some more gameplay in a larger area and their geoscape before I collapse in ecstasy.
Hey, and the creator has mentioned level editing before looking into modding support.

So, unity again. Modding will probably be problematic.
Still, it pushes all the right buttons. If the maps aren't pitifully small, weapon mods and modding is in (if they can be arsed to write custom tools), I think I'll start fapping cautiously.

There's another thread for this game? I actually searched before I started this one :obviously:

Anyways, yes, I agree with spectre. I'm on the verge of saying :incline: but I'm holding myself

Looks really promising. I wish they did a semi-open world a'la JA2 and not just a series of maps. This may however be asking too much of a guy who according to his bio has thus far worked on mobile games.

What's up with the view switching from overhead to a "cinematic angle" on firing a shot? That shit's terrible.

    What makes the angle cinematic?

Update from the steam page. It's looking better and better. The dev seems to know what he's doing systems-wise. Sadly there probably won't be gun p0rnz to match JA2 1.13. Not just because the dev team is small but also because of the setting: not a rag-tag group of mercenaries who might have to use a wide array of weaponry, even antiquated ones, but a specialised anti-terrorist unit.
The peek move was not there in JA2. At last a dev who tries to enhance and not strictly dumb down.
EDIT: the cover system is also an improvement. The bullets are ray traced and collide properly with the object providing cover, with possible penetration depending on the parameters of the gun/ammo.

Looks pretty good but alas, it's hard to be a hopeful ja fan these days.
My only gripe is that getting shot and wounded doesn't seem to do a lot. Or perhaps it is on their todo list?

Looks rather promising. I wonder if the company who makes this will shut down a few weeks after release :smug:
