Evil Islands: Can't get to map for Magic Item

I'm in the early part of the game. I need to get a magic item. I have the part I need for the draw bridge... So I'm all set, but I can't get into the map that contains the magic item. I've gone to every area around it but I can never enter that one map( there's never a checkbox to enter, just cancel ). Is there another entrance in a different map? Otherwise, how do I get in?
