Actually I see quite a few mentioning Obsidian & New Vegas doing it better, and not so many mentions of FO3.

 

That's just what's funny. They won't. It's literally unfixable

 

wow Russians are really destroying this game in steam review section. Kinda thinking about buying for it exactly this purpose and refund it.
But still 500k playing it right now.

 

So I am guessing all the fancy stats in Fallout 4 have little impact on gameplay again. How exactly does Intelligence figure into things with that dialogue system? How does Perception work without a DM text window? What does Charisma affect, on practical level?

 

By the way, who's going to write the Codex review?

I knew it was going to be a disappointing POS.

 

I'm surprised. I mean, it sucks, that much we already knew. But even most trolls on the net loved Beth's games. So, what changed? Why suddenly everyone seems to hate it now? It's funny as hell, of course, but I don't get why it's happening only now.

Is Fallout 4 THAT bad? So bad that even generic-metacritic-poster-4149 needs to rate it 0? That's an achievement in itself.

Don't underestimate the POS called Oblivion. It was a mass hysteria of such dimensions that it might not be repeated just like that. Possibly people also trusted reviews more at that time.

 

I'd love to say it's because people have finally noticed Beth games are badly designed and horribly written, but it's more likely that people have noticed other devs have recently demonstrated it's possible to make big open world games that look nice and aren't riddled with a fuck ton of lazy bugs.

 

Video games are entertainment first and foremost so in the end of the day being THAT bad doesn't take much.

Oblivion wasn't THAT bad because CRPGs were dead and Gothic 3 turned out to be a buggy mess. Oblivion's CS also elevated modding to unparalleled heights. (Morrowind Nexus is 3.5k files and Oblivion Nexus is 25k files.) FO3 introduced a "new" post-apoc setting, largely unknown to the mainstream audience. Skyrim did more or less the same by introducing a northern setting. Also it had some political factions/intrigue.

FO4 adds nothing. It's simply FO3 with (much) less CRPG in it. Bethesda built a humongous hype machine through a huge marketing campaign and paid "reviews" but this machine now works against them because it's H-Hour and they have nothing to show. Everything was a lie. I hate to say this but even DA:I was more impressive.

Played it for a bit and that's the exact thought that springs to mind about this game. Which makes me wonder about all the sudden hate everywhere. It's Fallout 3, twats. The same exact shit that you used to love. Oh well, uninstalled it already. Regarding my own earlier post. It sucks as a hiking sim. Gameplay is the same old Bethesda shit. Perhaps Obsidian will make something out of this one....

I don't think they can. Even if they found some way around the mutilated character systems (skills gone, traits gone, attributes and perks absolutely fucked), the dialogue system is non-existent now.

Skills are just a bunch of integer variables and traits are everlasting active effects. It's not that huge deal. If a fan mod can make you freeze to death in Skyrim or give you a classic xp leveling, I don't think a professional studio would have hard time repairing this mess.
