Favourite game places to visit

So, I thought I'd start my posting on the codex by digging a hole for myself talking about Mass Effect...
But specifically, I'm curious as to if others have favourite places to visit in games, just to spend time in. My favourite game of all time is probably Fallout 1, but I only really play it for the complete game experience - something like Mass Effect 2, I don't rate as highly, but sometimes I'll load it up just to explore the environments and wander around areas like the Citadel or Omega, purely just for the fun of inhabiting the virtual space. Something I find relaxing as a way of escaping the horrors of the real world. Anybody have any other favourite places to share?

Still haven't got into this series but I really like the way people describe the atmosphere in it. Been meaning to check it out for a while now.

The satellite towers at the far right hand side top corner of fallout 3's map
the best fight in the game isnt even a quest, just taking those towers from bandits is very entertaining
Yeah Fallout 3 is probably one of my least favourite in the series but one thing I really liked about it was the exploration and discovery feeling - it was the kind of game where you could just walk in a straight line for a while and interesting things would happen on the way.

New Reno.

I always rush from the primitive shitholes to the neon paradise of junkies, dealers, whores, pimps and gangs to become a mafiosos-pornstar-prizefighter. The lower the initial level the more fun it gets.

Ark in Enderal.
One of the few 3D RPGs with a city that manages to feel like it's a city. The city itself has 8 distinct districts, and there's an entire city underneath the city too.

Jacob's Town in New Vegas. In general I love mountain resorts/ski lodges type areas. And this one is especially nice as it contrasts with the desert.

Hanging out in UNATCO talking to bros. What is great about Deus Ex is that despite being a story about conspiracy and betrayal, the friends you make in UNATCO and beyond, Jaime, Jock, Tracer Tong, Sam, Aex, stick with JC hroughout the game and are extremely loyal, willing to put their lives at risk to help their bro JC take down the jews MJ12, often going on little other than JC's word. A true story of brotherly friendship.

The whole mall in Dead Rising.

New Sorpigal in M&M VI. The game starts there, and I just get a very cozy feeling whenever I'm walking around that town.

Kakariko village/graveyard - Ocarina of Time (chill, throw some chickens around)
Balmora - Morrowind (central point, lots of close caves and houses to loot)
Novigrad - Witcher 3 (urban decay, tons of side quests)
Secret woods - Stardew Valley (chill, kill some slimes, collect some wood, go fishing)
Goodsprings - Fallout New Vegas (gas station for storage, hang out with the local drunks, good starting base)

Grab the Codex by the pussy Pathfinder: Wrath
As a Horde player in vanilla (not the newfangled Classic stuff) WoW I loved everything about The Barrens -- the noobs, the chat, the meandering quests, the walking everywhere, the ambient music. The mood of the entire zone was just so relaxing.

Liberty City in GTA IV. I could just go to the real New York, but then I wouldn't be able to run over people in the street for fun.

Deus Ex's Hong Kong is a big one for me. Love the music, love the weird dialogue you hear. Was always more attached to it than the rundown New York section.

Zelda Breath of the Wild had a nice little town with a great musical theme, Hateno Village.

Morrowind's Balmora will always hold a place in my heart, as it's in my top 5 games and Balmora is the most visited town most of the time (and the home base of my first ever playthrough).

Slightly off topic but the radio stations in GTA3 always give me the nostalgic feels. I guess that city layout does too, but it's the music... especially "Head Radio"... that really takes me back to when I was obsessed with that game.

Santa Monica from bloodlines always felt kinda cozy, just walking around, taking a stroll through the beach, visiting Trip's.. was fun to visit it again a few times for some later missions.

Yeah there's a few places like that in Morrowind for me - I think that was probably the first game where I really spent the majority of the time exploring, not to level up or find new gear, but just for the sake of actually exploring the world.

Tristram in D1. Cozy but desolate and there's a chill in the air that tells you things are not quite what they seem. The music and overall visual makes me think of a dark Autumn night in a small rural settlement where you can smell the campfire all around but there's this sense of unease accompanying it.

Many of the villages at night in Blood Omen 1. Walking into homes in the dead of night, hearing people sleep soundly, maybe a storm is going on outside with a flash of lightning to illuminate the room for a split second so you can better see the unsuspecting in their beds... and then you siphon their blood to restore your health.

So many good ones! For me Hommlet comes to mind right away because it's this awesome cozy quest hub, it has great characters and is just all-around hard to beat. I wish I could live there! But then there's also the starting dungeon in BG2, it just floors me! It's spooky, it's touching, has deep lore and awesome encounters! I love going through all that hand-crafted content and I can't count the times I've caught myself restarting the game right after reaching the promenade just so I can play through it all over again, it's THAT good.
