Well, his father is excessively aged from maintaining the barrier around the city. Going to the royal tombs probably means Regis gets killed relatively early in the game, which makes him inherit the throne, and therefore have to use the same magic power you mentioned only the royal family gets.

Guess Noctis falls victim to the same problem. Wonder how Japan will respond to playing as what looks like a middle aged man.

Gotta love when they spoil major plot points like that, but oh well.

Final Fantasy XII was almost mediocre.

 

Yes, it's a shame that the new combat system killed the game.

 

A lot of executive meddling killed that game. The combat was the least of its problems, IMHO.

 

All they had to do was grab the combat from Final Fantasy 10. Even if 12 had a shit ton of flaws and a horrible story, the gameplay would at least have been good.

You finally discovered who was Riku's brother. And found facts about her family. Also you could see Al-Bhed money xxxxxxxx service in real motion. Don't loan money in FFX-2 it's VERY unhealthy. And it was funny.

You could also seen what happened when they removed Aeons. Landscape bit changed. (And not to the better.)

If someone would kick some person from lead for lighting return, stop doing lighting brownosing, and continue upward trend tri ace started with FFXIII-2, the trilogy would be awesome.

 

They could have. But what FFXII ended up having was just a different presentation of the 'ATB' systems. Some might even argue that the fact it eliminated screen transitions made it great. Others would say that the gambit system exposes the simplicity of FF combat. Likewise with the story, simply removing Vaan would have improved it all 1500%. I'd say that in the end FFXII is a game that grasps greatness and fails to achieve it. No one thing is really to blame for that.

The lack of difficulty is what makes it so simple. Outside of superbosses, all of them since the U.S. release of 4 (2) have just been holding down the attack button and winning. 12's openness actually remedied that for a decent chunk of the game. After Raithwall's Tomb, if you relied on just gambits while trying to brave the latter parts of Barheim Passage, Nabudis, and Nabreus you were going to get fucking steamrolled and fast. Unfortunately, it leveled off real quickly once you got a Defender from the horses in the Nabreus Deadlands.

Problem is, the average Final Fantasy fan doesn't care about being challenged like that. They want to see flashy movies, cheesy 80's B movie romance and dialogue, and the EMOTIONAL TWIST. Grown men actually crying because Aeris got prison shanked. Fucking pussies.

Hell, did you watch the 50 minutes of gameplay of 15? The only fight that looked interesting was the Iron Giant. And it fucking wrecked him. But, there was no game over screen! Noctis' HP fell to 0 and was just wounded. Are "gamers" so fragile they can't even look at a game over screen anymore?

 

Just watched Kingsglaive today and I get a massive headache with people teleporting left and right, slamming each other up and down, while rolling in the air, and the camera can't catch up.

And the fact that the plot twist that the king's head guard is actually enemy's general, how the fuck did that happen? Doesn't Lucis have counter-intelligence or something? If they don't, they're so dumb they pretty much deserved their fate.

And everybody in the movie likes getting buttfucked by Niflheim or something, all villains hate King Regis because... Niflheim attacked and he did nothing, so they joined people who murdered their families... to kill the King. Wat. Why do you want to put people who raped your homeland on the throne?

Who wrote this shit? I mean, FF12 has terrible pacing but everyone and the world they live in is functional. This thing is like written by 13-year-old.

 

Takashi seems like a guy who was handed shit character, settings, and plot to work into a movie, so it's definitely Nomura's fault.
