Do Lands of Lore (1 and 2) and the 2 Crusader games use MIDI? Or if you know if any of the games on there use MIDI and possibly specifically written for Roland sound modules (like the MT-32 or Soundcanvas)? I have all the Ultima's and Wing Commander's.

On the expansion pack issue, someone from EA said in a podcast they sorted all that shit out and sent the expansions over to GOG. Why they have not been added is a mystery, as this was over 3 or 4 months ago, but presumably it's just some last minute wrangling and the expansions are coming.

Crusader uses its own sound system, a weird one too. It's like its own soundcard. Has its own digital samples for instruments, and then uses those to play the tunes. Not compatible with MIDI as far as I know, just plays like digital sound. Origin were always technological weirdos.

LOL1 has MIDI as you already know, LOL2 is all digital AFAIK.

WC 1 and 2 are MT-32 compositions (actually might be CM-32L... not sure). Kilrathi Saga versions rerecorded the music with a live orchestra, so digital (and very nice).

The intro to WC 1 uses the higher end Roland Mt-32 (LAPC-1/CM-500/CM-32L) sound effects (the gun lazers). I think it also uses those sound in the Barracks where you can save your game too.

LizardKing -- late reply but: yes. They are a bit 'samey' but since they're bundled together it doesn't matter. Great adventure/trading/exploration/RPG elements hybrid.

I just looked around in the in-game settings and I saw nothing that had anything to do with color blindness. I did, however, find this Alternative Color Patch for SMAC, maybe it will help you out :D

Thanks for looking, but the link results in a "file not found" error. However, I was searching for the official color patch myself, and I could actually download it from the Firaxis company page.

I have every single Interplay game from any genre I care about on GOG except Stonekeep.

I could buy Stonekeep. But fuck 'em.

I already bought the games I was interested in on GoG. I was considering Giants and Sacrifice, but I own them on disc.

Space Colony has style (which a lot of games are lacking in these days) and a lot of it. But the gameplay is a little shallow. It is one of Firefly Studio's early games, back when they were still trying.

There's a decent number of build options for a base, when you look at it all on the surface. But most of the options are recreational facilities, and the rec facilities you need for a mission are determined by the colonists assigned to the mission, since each colonist likes only certain recs. So, each mission, most of the rec buildings go unused, leaving you with not much you have to do to build your base.

Each colonist has their own personality, skills, quirks, and work ethic, which is a nice touch, and you spend a good bit of time managing those things. Makes it more like a real workplace with psychopathic corporate overlords. But managing them doesn't take a lot of effort, since, even if two colonists absolutely hate each other, a few sessions on the talking couch will have them becoming friends.

The core thing you have to do for a base is maintain Oxygen and Power levels, since you're space workers working in a hostile atmosphere, and the colonists will ignore their jobs if they're busy fighting/moping/complaining about not getting paid, and will thus let those things fail. Which is a kick, but also not particularly complex to take care of.

And then, when you've taken care of that, you set about harvesting whatever resource the corporation tells you to harvest, which usually amounts to plunking down a single harvesting building type, and then waiting for the colonists to gather enough of the resource in question. Missions do get more complex than that, towards the end, and some missions can be challenging, particularly in the combat path, but the challenge doesn't lie in their depth.

Great stye, low substance. All in all, then, it's a lot like a base-building version of Stronghold, with the relative importance and level of detail of the fighting side and the managing-the-base side flipped.

Crusader uses MODs, just like Unreal, Unreal Tournament or Deus Ex.

Warlords Battlecry III is up, as well as Double Fine's nice little game, Custom Quest. The latter is 50% discounted, so it ended in my shopping cart. (although I have it on PS3)

Costume Quest is pretty fun. Short, not overly complex, definitely more geared towards young children, but still fun.

It's very casual but it's a fun little romp with a lot of charm. It's a children fantasy about Halloween, nothing too deep or challenging but it's done well and you can spend a nice evening with it. The DLC on the other hand lacks inspiration and feels bland, forgetting the children fantasy theme and taking the story more seriously.
